Kalamota Beach House

We were in need of a complete time out when we decided to book this hotel and it totally delivered. The hotel has 11 suites that all have beautiful views of the cove and sea beyond. Clean, well laid out and comfortable rooms with modern decor and design. We had a very fun arrival by water taxi as it was too late to use the ferry. We were met by the Manager who took care of our luggage, directed us to comfortable seating in the bar and organised refreshments which were very much appreciated after travelling, whilst he took care of checking in. The next day, we opened the curtains to beautiful sunshine and lovely views. All meals at this time of year, are outdoors but under attractive cover. No table has a bad view and you can take your time, watching the boats and people coming and going for as long as you like. Food was either a set menu or a La carte. They take their food seriously and yet are happy to flex in order to meet dietary needs and preferences. Kolocep has no roads per se, locals get about using golf carts and boats. The one shop on the island is a 20 minute walk away so go prepared, because the only other option is ferry to Dubrovnik. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We were able to organise tours around the island with snorkelling opportunities in the local blue caves with the best advice as to when to go to avoid the worst of the crowds. We also had a boat all to ourselves when we visited Dubrovnik for the day so truly spoilt! No issues with sun beds and cabanas, there are plenty for the guests use and no silliness over reserved spaces. The cove is sandy and easy to walk into the water. Shoals of fish and hermit crabs - one sighting of an octopus! Great for snorkelling. Shallow waters support children to play safely. If a pool is more your thing, the roof has amazing views whilst you take a dip. All in all a special little spot which I would highly recommend.

This place is so wonderful . The views , atmosphere, service , food. Everything is beautiful . Private transfer €90. Ferry is €5. Then can be picked up by golf buggy and cute little tour across island . Room spacious and clean. Beds comfy . Views perfect . Service amazing . The food is divine. Just visit … but don’t tell too many people ! 😉

I saw all the 5 star reviews and fabulous comments and thought people must have got a bit carried away but … I was wrong .. this is a brilliant place .. Mario and Valentina met us off the boat and within 30 seconds we were sipping bubbly !! The location is superb looking over the small bay and the whole place is tranquil. We stayed 5 nights and kayaked to the blue cave.. and ate superb food . Our room was spacious and I loved the balcony overlooking the bay .. we walked the 20 mins overland to the bigger bay where the big hotel was and we’re glad we chose Kalamota it’s far superior .. we can’t wait to return

Fantastic hotel. Beautiful setting. Lovely large rooms. Amazing attentive staff led by Mario. Great food. One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Fabulous experience. Easy to move from one island to another. Not cheap but well worth the money.

Definitely my favourite hotel of our tour around Croatia. We had a premium suite with balcony, it was perfect, lovely big room, air conditioning, sun loungers on a big balcony overlooking the bay. The only thing the room needed was a few tea bags and coffee sachets as there is a fully equipped kitchen but no shop to buy anything. I don’t personally want to cook anything when I’m on holiday but I do like a drink on a morning so think the basics for making a drink would be nice. The staff are all really lovely and very helpful, nothing too much trouble. We took the private boat to arrive which was fun but if you can arrive a fraction of the price by ferry. The island is incredibly beautiful, so many little bays to explore, with great snorkelling. Lovely walking too around the forest. I would definitely love to visit again and recommend for anyone who’s looking for a peaceful location.

My family and I spent 6 nights here and had an amazing time. I was a little worried the kids (age 9 and 11) might be bored, but they loved being able to swim and snorkel the bay and enjoyed the roof top pool (whilst we enjoyed the stunning views). We were even able to use the hotel’s free kayak to get to the blue caves. Hard work but a fun morning out. Our apartment was simple but very well furnished, with a beautiful view over the bay. Staff were all very friendly and keen to help in anyway. The restaurant location.was perfect, right by the water. My only criticism is the menus. Whilst all the food we ate was very good, we felt the choices were too limited in the evenings, especially if you wanted a simpler meal. Be aware there is no children’s menu and meals not child friendly. Staff helpfully offered to adapt some meals but the really kids didn’t enjoy them much and as prices were high we ended up cooking pasta for the kids in the apartment and having adults only dinner in the restaurant (not a bad outcome for adults or kids!!). The hotel organised our private transfers and this service was great, it took the stress out of arranging taxis and boats. This is a beautiful hotel and great restaurant, in an absolutely wonderful location.

Kalamota Beach house provides the most relaxing experience and is a truly amazing place. Mario and Valentina cannot do enough to help you and are there to greet you off the boat from the second you arrive. We arrnaged a private transfer through the hotel and everything was perfectly arranged. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the views from the rooftop pool are worth a look at. Breakfast was excellent everyday with a good variety as well as fresh eggs etc. Barista made coffee was also available. Lunch and dinner at the restaurant was great, albeit the menu was slightly limited but the food that was served was excellent. The rooms do have facilities to cook your own food and are very well equipped. The rooms are excellent in size and are very modern and fresh. Cannot wait to return next year.

We had a wonderful stay here on this beautiful island. All the staff were so kind with nothing being ever too much trouble. I am a vegetarian and whilst there were options on the menu the incredible chef Pedja prepared some other vegetarian dishes that were not on the menu which were so creative and tasted amazing! Thank you Pedja again for your care and brilliant creativity. All the staff are responsible for making this a truly wonderful experience. Thank you so much once again.

We arrived at hotel after very easy transfer by boat and our room was ready, though cases yet to arrive. No problem, we went and had lunch and a look around. Cases delivered by the time we had done this, holiday begins. Room basic but clean and bed comfy. Staff super friendly and looked after us well. The reps also friendly and helpful. Found sun beds easy enough, was a bit windy first couple of days so difficult to find shade as parasols unable to be put up. Once wind subsided no problem. Sea was refreshing and so clean. Food was a bit same ish each day but there was always something enjoyable to eat and the desserts excellent. We opted for the sunset cruise and had great fun and took many sunset photos. We chose to go to Dubrovnik independently and found it easy to get around, armed with info of busses etc from the reps. Really lovely place. I sadly had a fall on our last day and we now know that I broke my leg in three places but wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped. Shout outs for The guy in the spa ( sorry as out of it forgotten your name) the guys who gave me lift in the buggy as close to room as pos and back again, the reps for organising my easier travel back to the UK with airport assistance. And all the lovely guests who got me more ice and showed concern. Despite my troubles I would still recommend this hotel to others as long as you are able to cope with plenty steps.
