Casas Da Lapa, Nature & Spa Hotel

We (family of four, one 10, one 12 year old) stayed 2 nights at Casas Da Lapa in April 2023. The Hotel is located in a beautiful part of the Sierra da Estrella region, and located in a tiny village clinging to the hillside. We had a very nice, warm welcome, and the Hotel itself is very well appointed. Our room was excellent, very cosy and comfortable and we were given drinks and chocolates on arrival. The Hotel is very well appointed, clean, comfortable and comes with outdoor pools (2) which in the summer would be terrific but in April were a bit too cold even for British tourists, and a small indoor pool (which you have to book in advance a slot to use, which we found a bit strange and restrictive, but it was what it was). There is also a cinema (which we never saw being used), a lounge, reading room, dining room and lots of Spa treatments we didn't use. On reflection we think the Hotel probably caters best for older tourists who will take advantage of the cinema, reading rooms, etc and who appreciate quietness and calm. Having two young kids wanting to race around and jump in pools probably didn't quite fit in to the surroundings. Having said all that, we thoroughly enjoyed our time, staff were friendly and helpful, the local loop walk was superb, and the dinner and breakfasts were fantastic. Thank you very much to the owners and staff for a very good stay. (one small tip for the Hotel - in the room it would have been great to have more hooks to hang towels and bath robes on. After a swim we had 4 wet towels, and 4 wet bath robes which we ended up having to loop around the stair rail)

Uau, what a place. You need to try it to fully grasp what we mean. Top service and small but meaningful gestures that makes all the difference. A Porto tonic as a welcome drink, afternoon snacks and frigo bar included in the price, the same with interior pool, sauna and Turkish bath. Advisable to book any SPA treatment as soon as possible. Also make sure that you do not have a big car since it can be a mission to reach the hotel through the very narrow streets of the village. Breakfast (included) and any meal inside worth every penny.

Excellent hotel, with good location. Close to many attractions in the area - we spent one day at Piodao. The rooms are big, clean, well equipped and maintained, as all the hotel in general. Food is great, nice spa and facilities, and above all incredible staff!!!! Great experience and very recommended

Wonderful place. I needed a rest and certainly I got a delightful one in this place. The sound of the water running, the sound of birds in an exquisite environment. Local products turned into tasty meals. Friendly employees always ready to make an unforgettable stay. Really relaxed massagem program. To come back for!

This is a very quirky and interesting place. The drive up is incredible- you can hardly believe that cars can fit between the buildings, but it is well signed and there is plenty of parking once you make it up the hill. The hotel is designed like a mid century modern ski lodge - but the decor just misses the mark. The floors are noisy and ceilings low, so you feel like you are very present wherever you walk. The rooms were lovely and beds comfortable and we had a marvellous view. Unfortunately the thermostat wasn't working so it was very warm all night. Staff are beautiful and friendly and the best part of this hotel. We had the set dinner which was yummy - although we were on our own in the restaurant for most of the meal which affects the atmosphere. We didn't use the pool or other facilities. Breakfast was also very nice- a selection brought to the table. Probably a bit overpriced for what you get, but the staff are particularly lovely, especially David. A good place for a stopover.

This is a truly magical hotel, and I think one of my favourites I have ever stayed in. Stunning location overlooking the valleys below, beautiful design works everywhere, art, mind blowing breakfasts and 5 course dinners worthy of a Michelin star. All with helpful, friendly, yet humble staff that make you feel completely at home. Incredible walks in the national park right from the front door, pools, waterfall… honestly take my word for it, it is an absolute gem of a place which I recommend 100%! Thank you Casas de Lapa for an unforgettable week!

Beautiful view, spot on decor and really good food. Nice outdoor area with two pools. Friendly staff who can advise you regarding trips in the area. Large room and bathroom. Coffee/tea/minibar in the room.
