I can't praise Qiao Hongli and the family enough for their welcome and support. The lady of the house walked me to the West Gate entrance to the Rainbow Mountains. The hotel then organised tickets to 2 night shows and the Binggou Danxia. Perhaps the highlight was a tour of the Extraterrestrial Canyon, which Hongli took me on. He took concern for my aged knees! The many kindnesses which Hongli and his family showed to me made it a wonderful 3 day trip. Xiexie.

The service was really good, the owner had our rooms ready when we arrived earlier than check in. She helped us arrange lunch and arranged a tour for us. The rooms were clean and modern and the showers were so good as we stayed during off season mid November it was -5 at night so a hot shower was essential. She also arranged transport back to the train station on departure. Very friendly and would recommend.

The room was very clean, even cleaner than the five-star hotel we stayed in in Dunhuang. We were given snacks when we checked in, and delicious and sweet crispy dates when we checked out. The boss was very nice and patiently explained the scenery and people of Zhangye. I basically stayed in star-rated hotels during this trip. This was the only time I stayed in a B&B.
