Very welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend and stay here again. We had to leave early so Roger had our breakfast ready at 6:30am. Fantastic host. Rooms were clean and warm with large freestanding bath in the en-suite. Amazing nights sleep.

We just got home after our stay. We had the most amazing time. Roger greeted us with a fresh pot of coffee and a delicious slice of lemon drizzle cake. We sat in the library surrounded by amazing old books and a wonderful log fire. Our room was clean, beautiful and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had a beautiful claw foot bath tub. We went out for dinner and came back to the library. We enjoyed a couple of brandys from the little bar and had a game of pool. We had the best sleep. So quiet and comfortable. In the morning Roger cooked us the best breakfast we'd ever had. It's the first time my partner and I have had a chance to get away together, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Cannot wait to go again

We landed on our feet with this booking! What a fabulous place, full of furniture reflecting the time it was built (1910), lovely, cosy living room and library. We'd asked for a twin room, but Roger upgraded us to a room each, and when we saw them, we could only say Thank you! Reall old world country house feel for two day's cycilng. Ate at local pubs, open all year, chatted to people until we felt part of the community! Roger was very chatty and helpful (bikes locked in the shed) and the breakfast was lovely and kept us going most of the day!

This guest house is amazing. A big wow on simply stepping inside. A beautifully restored period guest house. The library has an olde-worlde feel about it and I felt like I could sit in there forever! So many old books, reading table and chairs, but also pool/billiard table and a small honesty bar. A cd player and selection of cds and a log burner. You can really relax in this room. The breakfast room also has settees to relax on and a log burner. Breakfast itself is relaxed. Roger is a good cook and will mix and match breakfast to your liking! I’d recommend trying the pancakes while you are there! Also a good selection of yoghurts/fruit/cereal/honey. Fresh coffee too. Roger and Katie are very welcoming, friendly and knowledgable about the town and things to do in the area. Lovely to chat with and always seem to have the time for you. It felt like nothing was too much for them and even though it’s their home they never make you feel like guests, more like old friends come to stay. The bedroom was immaculately clean, very comfortable bed. Space to hang and put away clothes. All the usual such as hairdryer, kettle, coffee but with a first class selection of drinks. Love the Gideons Bible in the drawer too! Local pubs (full of very interesting characters!) and one restaurant (limited opening hours for latter but well worth it if you can get in) are within easy walking distance. It’s just a superb place to stay and we really hope we can go back in the future.

We booked this hotel needing some well deserved rest and respite and we had an amazing long weekend of just that. We had a lovely warm welcome and we really well looked after from start to finish. It's a fantastic little gem and one we thoroughly recommend!

A lovely welcome on our arrival to this beautiful, characterful house. We were shown to our room and we were offered refreshments and cake, which we accepted and consumed them in the library. We then played a few games of pool, and a glass each of alcohol. Our room was great, comfortable bed and the shower was fantastic. We went down for breakfast, and we ate fresh fruit salad, cooked breakfast, toast and homemade marmalade, absolutely gorgeous. Roger and Katie made it a wonderful stay, and we'll definitely be returning.
