My daughter and I stayed at Mother Earth last week for three nights. We had been hiking and in a bus all day before checking in. So, we were a bit embarrassed by our appearance. We probably looked like The Beverly Hillbillies in such a fancy establishment. Nonetheless, Stephanie greeted us warmly, and reassured us. From the first welcome drink, brought to our room by a smiling, sweet man named José, to the last wave goodbye from Stephanie, we were treated like family. Karen, the owner, made sure to greet us every night at dinner. She was very warm and kind. The whole staff made us feel very special. Now, let’s talk about the incredible food! It would take a week to work through their amazing menu. Every meal we had was out-of-this-world delicious! I can’t think of any meals in my life that were better than what we ate at Mother Earth. The portions are large, too, Not the petite, artsy, portions common in other high-end vegan restaurants. The pasta is homemade, and seems to melt in your mouth. I’m still thinking about that pesto pasta! The tacos, Philly cheesesteak, and lasagna were all very delicious. The included breakfasts were wonderful! We even ate at the Mother Earth food truck on the beach. The chili dog was outstanding, and large! I cannot overstate how delicious the food is. But, it’s the kindness of the staff that I will also never forget. Thank you Stephanie for arranging a fabulous nature boat tour for us. And, for not judging us when we came in covered in dirt from our ATV excursions. Thank you Jose great service and friendly smile. Thank you Juan for great breakfast service, and good conversations and laughs. Thank you Karen for making us feel welcome, and special. Ps. The massage therapist is amazing, as well. Great pressure!

Construction: the meeting rooms and yoga studio back up to a construction zone, so you will hear drilling through out the day Beware of terms: they tried to charge me $600 deposit although their terms state $200 Noise in rooms: you can hear the bar music until around 11p plus your neighbors Food: not allowed to bring non vegan food on premise. Average cost per meal $26

We stayed at the 'Mother Earth Vegan Hotel' for a total of three nights. The complex is beautifully designed, the pool area, kitchen, bar and restaurant have been harmoniously integrated. The hotel is very modern and looks well maintained. Our room was very spacious and clean. We also had our own terrace. In addition to a safe, fridge and coffee maker, the rooms are also equipped with a ceiling fan and air conditioning. A wide range of snacks and drinks are available in the minibar at an additional cost. In the room we were greeted by a fruit bowl and a nice postcard. However, the first good impression was marred when we sat in the hotel restaurant in the evening. The prices for the food are not related to the service received. For example, we paid $20 for an appetizer that included six fried cauliflower florets with gravy! The following main course, cannelloni, made from somewhat tough zucchini and eggplant, cost $28. The main reason we came to Tamarindo was to visit the first vegan hotel in Costa Rica. It was also great to have several vegan dishes to choose from. We would have liked to have tried other dishes on the following evenings - but not at these prices! We're happy to pay more for special food, but unfortunately that's not the case here. Rather, one has the impression that more is simply asked for here, because it is vegan. My fellow travelers were also very busy with the floor of the facility, since the stone decor contained coral. I have been assured that these are not real corals - and I can only hope they are not!! The staff Randell and Raphael were very friendly and nice. As vegans, we would of course be happy to recommend the hotel because we think the idea behind it is great and we would like to support something like this. But since the food is of course essential in a vegan hotel, we unfortunately cannot make any recommendations. It's a pity...

Every detail of this beautiful boutique hotel was thoroughly thought through! The owner, Karen, truly cares about each and every guest as well as every detail of your stay. The rooms were immaculate! Designed beautifully and everything was luxurious from the bedding to the snacks to the toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body wash) to original artwork. Upon arrival we immediately had fresh towels laid out for us, cold water with orange, a welcome drink and a welcome appetizer. Follower by a scrumptious complimentary vegan cookie sent over by Karen. Everything looked like a price of artwork and tasted delicious too! The yoga studio on the third floor has stunning views and is also where you can get an (amazing) massage done or squeeze in a little workout like I did! The best part of all though is the STAFF! Every single employee went above and beyond to cater to our every need with a genuine smile on their faces. Please go experience this place for yourself! *it’s not just for vegans either* anyone can stay here and be blown away!

I stayed at this hotel with friends as part of a sweet 16 birthday celebration. This place was so charming, inviting and catering. The hotel itself is beautiful, rooms nice, spacious and very clean. The hotel environment was so tranquil and serene. The staff was absolutely AMAZING, they catered to all our needs above and beyond. The owner also made it her business to personally welcome us and engage with us, I appreciated her hospitality. I'm not vegan, but I genuinely enjoyed all the meals they prepared. Definitely a top notch experience!

First off and very fundamental to any booking please find out if booking in 2022 if the construction work next door has finished. We were looking for a spiritual and calming stay with yoga and mediation practice but this is not what we experienced. We cut short our 7 nts stay after 4 nts because we woke to the construction noise (7am) and could not use the pool area in peace during the day because of the continued noise throughout the day. Iron being cut, reversing bulldozers, earth being moved all the order of the day and heard very clearly. Exiting the property, we breathed in dust from the digging. Not ideal as we sought some peace after an 11 hour flight and relaxation from busy working life. The construction can be heard from the reception office, to the pool, to the rooms - its loud. When we checked in we also specially told we cannot bring any food or drink in from outside, we have never been told this at any hotel we have stayed at (there is a big sign at the front door). Rooms We did not get the pool view we were after in our 1st room, placed next to the busy kitchen area. Then moved because the safe box buzzer went off (which couldn't be switched off). Water takes 5/10 mins to warm up and then only tepid. Not a hot springs experience. Bedding were clean and tidy, good size bed also access to Netflix/YouTube. Standard expectations in most hotels/resorts these days. Breakfast - Three options only but in my opinion the highlight of our stay. Pura Vida (not here)

My husband and I wanted to try new type of hotel and food. Rooms are very expensive for what it is, the design is fabulous but why do you invest in blackout curtains if you get light through the glass from the door. The food seems to be very expensive as well. i understand this lifestyle is expensive, but if im going to pay $30 for a burger meal then at least give me fresh cut fries. Their Mother Earth burger came with frozen french fries! This place is ridiculous. If you call a place vegan, shouldn’t you be using real potatoes. Then we went to Cala Luna for our last days and was the best place we have stayed in Tamarindo. Fully recommended!

Mother Earth vegan was the first hôtel during our trip in Costa Rica. Our room was really nice and classy. The whole Vibe of the hotel was relaxing. Now, Lets get to the best part of our stay : the restaurant ! The food was incredible from breakfast to dinner. We really loved how nice and helpful the staff was, and how out of their way they tried to help us to feel at home (we later found out that this would be the case with most people in Costa Rica ;), but mother Earth vegan was the first place where we expérienced it). We especially would like to thank José and Oscar for making sure everything was perfect! For the fury members of the hôtel, huge thank you to Gato too ;)! Now, if i had to mention the things that were less good: 1/ the location, a bit far away from the center and on a hill 2/ the hôtel is a bit pricy (understandable for the food, but less for the massage and the room). However, i did not take one star off because of this, since the owner was flexible and made sure we would be able to Book the 2 nights the 3th one offered deal (so, since we had one night offered, the room price per night was more reasonable). So if you are looking for a place where you Can enjoy Costa Rica without hurting any living being, i strongly suggest you to stop by Mother Earth Vegan! ;).
