The entire grounds, the pool area, the bar and cafe area are really nice. The place was very peaceful at the time we visited, 3rd week of December. People at reception and the cafe were great. Very helpful and friendly. I also liked the fact that the reception desk and even the cafe is staffed all day. In the cafe you can get a cafe leche for 2 euros, or a regular espresso for 1 euro, and pan tostada with pate or tomato (spanish style breakfast) for 2 euros. Apparently there is a 'happy hour' from 5 to 9 pm as well although it's hard to notice it with the sign sitting flat on the counter top. It would be nice if they would stock the cafe with more food choices. Some pizzas in the evening or something similar would be nice. The pool was unheated so, too cold for me. And even the whirlpool was unheated, which is a bit surprising. But all very clean, and pleasant. The Duquesa port area, with its scenic views of the port. There is a good selection of places to eat here if you don't mind paying close to UK prices. I also liked the nearby beach town of Sabanillas. Good tapas there, and a nice little Spanish cafe as well. There is even a burger king, in case you are hungry for something like that. There are also a couple of little cafe/bars in the Castillo area. There are two supermarkets about a 10-15 minute walk down and 15 minute walk up. The supermarkets are Dia and Eroski. Both have comparable prices. There is a small shop on site but there is not much there you'd really need. And the sizes of items they sell are not practical. You are better off going to the supermarkets at the bottom of the hill. They should really reevaluate their shop offerings. You would be well advised to have a car to come here. You may be able to get by without a car, provided you have very little baggage and are capable of walking 20 minutes up to the hotel from the bus stop. There are 6-8 busses a day from Estepona to La Linea. They leave a bus stop right next to the pedestian overpass (just down the road from the supermarkets) in the direction of Duquesa port. You can look up the scedule. It is bus 240 on Avanca. There is an underground parking garage which is handy, but take care hen entering and exiting. The garage door remains somewhat ajar even when fully open and it would be easy to accidentally brush up against it when driving past if you are not careful. A couple of negatives: When we arrived we were offered a choice of either an apartment with oven not working or one with dishwasher not working. This seemed odd as there are so many apartments on site. However we chose one with dishwaher not working and it was fine. Also - not sure about the other apartments but the lighting in our apt needed upgrading. Some of the rooms have energy saving flourscent style lighting, which is not as good as modern LED with balanced hue.

A wonderful location where i come every year for the Andalucia Masters. The apartments are clean and well equipped, the washing machine in the kitchen is wonderful! The staff are just wonderful and always ready to help. They even tried to locate where they purchased a blanket/throw they had on the bed which I liked and would like to purchase myself. The area is nice with a lot of restaurants in La Duquesa just below on the shoreside. And not to forget the Indan restaurant at the bottom of the road. The location is easily accessed and still quiet and tranquil. The pool is maintained every day and very clean. When there was a slight problem with my drainage they send someone instantly. All in all, I will come next year too!

stayed here in September but couldn't find it at first as up a very steep hill so guess if your looking for a beach holiday you would defo need a car the whole place seems to be kept nice and tidy and the staff are friendly we found the apartment large but the kitchen was dirty we had a voucher from the hotel and we used it during there happy hour but they charged us the full price ? so much for happy hour left us unhappy ? the pool area is nice on minus side the hotel seems to be accommodation for lots of local hotel staff so when they're not working there in the pool taking up the few sun beds but we think the apartments did offer value for money but you need a car and just be aware of the local building works going on in the area

We have just enjoyed 7 nights at this hotel for a quiet relaxing holiday. The staff were friendly, the hotel very clean and the room and balcony were a good size. We had room 124 which had good views with some distant sea views between the new villas being built. This had all the advertised facilities although the spa bath did not work but there was plenty of very hot water for a normal bath or shower. There is a free safe in the room which is chargeable at many hotels. Whilst not affecting us please note there are a couple of discrepancies in the ********** description. It states that evening meals are available but this is currently not the case. It also states that rooms are cleaned daily but it is in fact once in the middle of a 7 night stay. You will therefore need to eat out or get your own food in.(There is a small selection of meals you can buy and cook yourself from the small shop on site. Unless fairly mobile you will need your own transport or use local taxis. The nearest supermarket is a 20 minute downhill walk en-route to Peurto La Duquesa (30 minutes walk from the hotel) where there are a number of good restaurants. The uphill walk back to the hotel is good for burning off some of the calories!

We love Duquesa and visit the area regularly- we have been coming for 15 years. Manilva Sun is our favourite complex in the area with spacious apartments, a lovely pool and the staff as helpful as ever.

We have just returned from Manilva Sun Apartments and had a lovely time. We stayed in Apt 53 which had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a spacious lounge. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen very well equipped and the air conditioning was excellent. The terrace was very spacious so there was plenty of space for drying clothes or enjoying a glass of wine in the evenings. We had a lovely check in. She really couldn’t have been more helpful as she showed us a few apartments to choose from. The bathrooms are a bit outdated but they were clean and there was always plenty of hot water. The pool was fantastic and again the whole area was very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The bar is very cute and happy hour runs from 5- 9pm. Bar staff were so friendly and there were always olives or nuts offered with a cold beer! There was always someone on hand each evening to call us a taxi. Very handy location if you plan on eating at the buzzy duquessa port and it’s also near enough to visit Sotogrande but you would need a car if you’re planning on doing any other site seeing. It’s possible to walk to the closest supermarket but it’s a bit of a trek. We had a car so no issue for us but it’s quite uphill if you’re on foot! All in all we had a very pleasant stay there and it was very good value for money!

I spent 2 weeks at Manilva sun apartments in Manilva, working and enjoying the sunshine, the apartments are exactly what you would expect from a 3 star grading, although nearer 4 would suit... polite friendly staff, nice bar area, a 24 hour shop opposite reception with all the essentials a bit more.... the pool area is lovely, surrounded by trees, ample sunbeds available, the room was a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen, again clean tidy and spacious. Well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Really enjoyed my stay and felt safe on the facility. It however is a long walk, up the hill from the beach, but I had a car and the secure underground parking helped. Room also had a free to use safe. I thought the pool area needed 3 or 4 tables and chairs as it was a lovely place to sit, but no terrace to enjoy this, you could however sit outside the main entrance on tables but not as nice. An older development but still clean tidy and good value

We needed a place to stay for two weeks, and the apartment was adequate. The kitchen is tiny--so small that the dishes are stored in the great room. Cooking pots and pans were only just enough for us, but we chose to fix most of our own meals. We had our own car. Without it, staying here would have been difficult. We appreciate the smoke-free room. Overall, for a 3 star place, this was an excellent choice.
