Logis Au Grand Hotel et Son Restaurant

Following the breakdown of our campervan our insurance provider booked us into The Grand Hotel; how very fortunate that was. Our van problems meant an overall stay of 11 nights and throughout that time English-speaking husband and wife owners Jocelyn and Fiona, ably supported by their staff, provided an excellent, flexible and, above all, a friendly service. Rooms were a little dated but perfectly adequate and always clean. A good range of food items were available at breakfast whilst evening meals were of a high standard. We look forward to a return visit in the future under different circumstances! Neil and Bridie

Really friendly customer service and good value, high quality dinner options. The breakfast and room facilities are basic but satisfactory and kept clean. Would return if in the local area as well located and warm/friendly atmosphere.

The hotel is a bit dated but completely adequate. The staff are incredible, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome and help at a moments notice. Nothing was too much trouble.

Booked a one-night stay at Le Grand Hôtel de Mayenne as suggested by Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours in conjunction with SAHT's "Footsteps of Patton" tour in June 2032. The hotel is located in northwestern France and is part of the region of Pays de la Loire, about 30 km northeast of Mont St. Michel. My room was spacious, well-lit, and clean. The bed was comfortably firm, air temperature likewise was comfortable, and the room permitted open windows with screens. Not sure why there were no USB ports, and there was no evidence that the hotelier still supplied hand towels to guests who use the room's bathroom. Both seemed like an odd choice when cutting corners (presumably to save the hotel money). Otherwise, linen and towels were clean and in good supply. The bathroom was well-provisioned, well lit, and included a very nice towel warmer. There's a pretty steep step in order to get into the tub, but there's a well-placed hand-hold that made it safe for me to get in and out of the tub for showering. There's signage encouraging short showers - not a bad idea. The hotel continues to rely on single-use plastics in the room, something we can hope will change over time. All in all, however, I had no complaints about my stay at Le Grand Hôtel de Mayenne.

The hotel is good value for money, the location is great, right next to the river and a few minutes walk into town. The rooms are comfortable and the buffet breakfast is excellent. Unfortunately, I had someone opposite playing very loud music in the middle of the night, I rang the hotel (I hadn't expected anyone to answer) and within seconds the music had stopped. We ate in the restaurant, which is excellent.
