"We stayed three nights. The location is beautiful. The hotel is next to a lake. It is about 3-4km to walk round the lake, and there is small place where canoes and pedalos can be hired. The hotel has a small swimming pool, which we much enjoyed swimming in, even though it was unheated at the time we used it. The grounds of the hotel are well maintained and we had lunch on the terrace. The food (we had a lunch and a dinner whilst there) is excellent. We have given a 4 rather than 5 star review as, unusually in our experience of French hotels, it was necessary to indicate whether you wanted a (singular) croissant, pain au chocolate or raisin, the night before. You do need transport if you want to visit nearby towns, and we were fortunate in having a friend who had driven there. The local taxi services, based on getting to the hotel from the nearest railway station, and from talking with locals, seems good- even if, worryingly - they are sometimes described as 'ambulances'. The hotel also have a number of bicycles available, though we did not try this. We would stay again."

Ibis Laval le Relais d'Armor

"The staff at the hotel were great but this is not an organisation I will ever visit again. We had booked 8 rooms as part of a trip through France however one of our party unexpectedly died just before our trip. All the other hotels we had booked did not charge for the cancelled room but Ibis / Accor refused to refund the room charge. All the costs refunded have been returned to my friend’s widow and my fellow travellers have funded the Ibis charge as we believe it is the right thing to do. This type of organisation has absolutely no compassion and I nor any of my fellow travellers will ever use Accor hotels again."

"A beautiful setting on the banks of the river with lovely walks on the doorstep. Very welcoming owners/staff? and a perfectly nice room. Not very luxurious but clean and adequate. We had a delicious dinner served by friendly people and all in all a very nice place to stay."

"Great hotel in parts and I would stay here again. On the plus side it is in a great location with secure parking available. The staff are incredibly friendly, rooms were comfortable and it is well priced. The downside was do not eat in the brasserie. It has no atmosphere and feels like you’re sitting in a village hall. Having said that the food was good and was fairly priced."

"On the outside, a crumbling 17th century chateau and on the inside, early 20th century. Currently having a new roof completed but needs a lot of maintenance and modernisation on the inside - treacherous stairs to first floor. Generally rather grubby, including bathrooms … Comfortable and clean bed. Good breakfast, dinner make or may not be available. Excellent general store on site. Friendly and helpful owner."
