"Much better management oversight of how this hotel operates is required if is to be somewhere where I would stay again. The room I was shown to had not been cleaned properly. Dust could be seen on all of the flat surfaces (you could write your name in it, it was that thick in places) and I couldn't put any of my clothes on the wardrobe shelves or coat hangers. In addition, there was black & red mould around the bath taps and shower screen areas. When I spoke to reception desk staff, I was offered another room. However this was in just the same unclean condition, I stayed where I was and cleaned the dust off myself! These are issues that should not be happening in any hotel, irrespective of the price it charges for its rooms and can easily be addressed if the hotel management walked around the property from time to time and check things over. This is obviously not happening here. No mention of these matters was made at check-our and no apologies on behalf of the management were proffered. Oh boy!!!!....never again."

Ibis Laval le Relais d'Armor

"The staff at the hotel were great but this is not an organisation I will ever visit again. We had booked 8 rooms as part of a trip through France however one of our party unexpectedly died just before our trip. All the other hotels we had booked did not charge for the cancelled room but Ibis / Accor refused to refund the room charge. All the costs refunded have been returned to my friend’s widow and my fellow travellers have funded the Ibis charge as we believe it is the right thing to do. This type of organisation has absolutely no compassion and I nor any of my fellow travellers will ever use Accor hotels again."

"On the outside, a crumbling 17th century chateau and on the inside, early 20th century. Currently having a new roof completed but needs a lot of maintenance and modernisation on the inside - treacherous stairs to first floor. Generally rather grubby, including bathrooms … Comfortable and clean bed. Good breakfast, dinner make or may not be available. Excellent general store on site. Friendly and helpful owner."

"Our short stay at his hotel was excellent. Accomodation was very clean and affordable. Food was amazing at our evening meal and service very good. We were late for breakfast but the staff helped sort something out for us and it was no trouble. Parking right outside in a courtyard."

"I don't eat burgers and I don't want pancakes for dinner either, so I only had one choice of hot dishes - grilled meat. The food was delivered quickly and was OK, but nothing more. The Creme Brûlée ordered for dessert was very good for that. The prices were average."

"We enjoyed our stay in a comfortable and very clean room. Breakfast was simple, with homemade bread to toast and enjoy with butter and jam, which added a nice personal touch, even if the variety was modest. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home."

"Loik & Helene (and their son with his newly born baby daughter) are excellent hosts. They are down to earth, helpful and charming. We were made to feel like house guests rather than hotel guests without this being intrusive. You could spend a lot of time taking in the chateau and its grounds and I'd recommend for people to do this. There is however plenty to do in the region. Laval and Mayenne are great and Loik was helpful too, recommending places to see and eat both in Craon and across the region. It was great to stay in a house steeped in history and original features. A thoroughly enjoyable experience."

"The environment of the room is quite beautiful. There is a farm outside with several small animals. The room is very quiet for two nights. The third night is not known whether other guests are staying or others in the family are coming back. It is a bit noisy. Then I can't eat in the room, and then I have to report in advance when I come back every night. On the first night, because the place was not easy to find, it was a bit late (a little more than 10 o'clock), and the landlord was a bit unhappy. Breakfast is a relatively simple French breakfast, bread + jam, yogurt, and then you can order milk or coffee or tea in advance. Overall, it is not bad. It is very pleasant to walk nearby with friends or lovers, and the price is OK."
