Would have been a higher rating but for a couple on niggly things. Firstly if you want sweeteners with tea and coffee take your own. They don't have them. The breakfast is sp****, half a mushroom is a bit mean and the continental is cereal, bread, a few pastries and some yoghurt and some chpped fruit. No croissants, pain au chocolate, meat, cheese or even an apple, an irange or a banana.
The most bizzare thing is that despite the bar and restaurant being immediately adjacent to each other you cannot get anything off the restaurant in the bar. The bar menu has no desserts thereon, so eat in the bar and you are not allowed a dessert. Strange in the extreme. Otherwise this is a really nice hotel with a lot of character with pleasant, welcoming staff. Despite my moans I would stay again without hesitation.

The 3 course meal in the restaurant was very tasty, well-balanced and great value for money. Hotel staff were all courteous and helpful. Only downside was the traffic noise as our room was at front of hotel, otherwise, a great weekend stay.

Reception and subsequent dealings with the reception staff was excellent.
Good parking although a bit of a trek to the hotel for those who find walking difficult. No 'drop luggage' arrangements.
Bar staff were good and the bar service was also good. Difficulty in getting music turned down in the bar area or even getting suitable music played to facilitate easy conversation in an empty bar!
The continental breakfast was very poor and not worth the money. No fruit salad available at 08:45 in the summer!

Very pleasant staff, the receptionist who checked us in was extremely helpful & pleasant, we couldn't find our room, it was only her third shift, she went & found it & then showed us where it was.
