During a trip to visit family in the nearby village of Los Gallardos we had two wonderful meals in the restaurant at the Hotel Tikar. The first time was for lunch. We had spinach salad with feta cheese and warm pasta in apple and curry sauce to start, cooked beef and grilled salmon for main, and the sautéed bananas and lemon tart for dessert. We enjoyed the food and hospitality so much that we decided to return the following evening to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The next time round we had grilled asparagus and pasta in four cheese sauce to start, duck leg confit and lamb shank for main and molten chocolate cake and the sautéed bananas for dessert. On both occasions Sean and the team were most welcoming. They were also accommodating in providing food that was suitable for our toddler.

Disappointing lunch. Big fan of Sean & Beatriz and this lovely spot but they have clearly got into a comfortable rut . The menu lunchtimes hasn’t changed for years , the world has moved on dramatically.! A La carte the mussels simply the worst ever , dry and tired no taste of the sea. The rest just very boring courses from years ago . Service and ambience impeccable but we were sad that they settled for such mediocrity. We encourage you to lift your game .

I thoroughly recommend Hotel Tikar, it is an Oasis of tranquility, close to the beach and amenities. The staff are brilliant, the rooms spacious and comfortable, if you have an opportunity I recommend the hotel wine tasting……..Shaun is very knowledgeable and a great host

Absolutely superb. Very nice small hotel run by absolutely lovely people. Very reasonably priced including breakfast. The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable but what makes this superb is the welcome you get, it truly feels you are staying with friends. I would highly recommend it and will always try to stay here when passing by again.

What a little gem. We only went for lunch but was really impressed. The wine list was outstanding. I am so glad we found this hotel. We will definitely stay there next year. Food was excellent. Reminded me of a little boutique hotel in Goa. Absolutely wonderful.

Private boutique hotel & restaurant owned run by Sean and Beatrice. Lovely hosts ... Food exceptional. Wine tasting afternoons, menu del dia, private groups catered for. They also organise wine trips in the region for a fabulous day out. The garden to the rear of the restaurant is an absolute haven ...so peaceful and with a small pool in which you can sit and dip your toes even!! Excellent location for a chill out. There is also an in house bodega with an amazing array of wines.... And Sean does a mean martini espresso too!!

Just outside Garrucha you could easily miss it driving by. A must to eat here where you receive a warm welcome from Sean and his wife. A native American who now lives in Spain. Sean is wine connoisseur who has a wine shop in the hotel/restaurant. The restaurant is tasteful decorated and very nice. We usually eat outside in the garden which has a banana tree and small pool. The food is delicious and a must to eat here. There are music nights and wine tours organised by Sean too. I recommend the seafood chowder as a starter. We have eaten here a few times now and look forward to more. We've not stayed in the hotel though. It's worth booking!

Excellent! Lovely small hotel and restaurant with great friendly but professional owners. Surroundings are lovely and the food delicious with exceptional service. Wished we’d found the place earlier on on our holiday as we would’ve been back there before we left for home. Would 100% recommend.
