Hotel Vasco Da Gama

This is probably one of the oldest hotels in resort and therefore has an envious position backing onto the beach. There is a good pool, terraces and tennis courts plus outside snack bar to compliment the large restaurant and grand wood panelled bar. However, much of the hotel is rather dated and the rooms are basic and rather noisy.

We booked this holiday with Jet2 It was brilliant the hotel was great the service people food rooms all outstanding we had a sea view room 😀 which was big and roomy great bathroom cleaned everyday the view outstanding could not fault it breakfast brilliant great choice evening meal was very good choice something different every night the fish dishes were great 👍 we had a memorable time

Many things to like about this hotel such as location, food and staff. However, the accommodation itself is a bit tired. Old tiles with cracks and dated furniture in desperate need of updating. The fridge didn’t work and the old tv had a distorted picture. I twice complained about the fridge, but when nothing was done I couldn’t be bothered to complain about anything else. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and perhaps the other rooms are in better condition. So I wouldn’t want to put anyone off from staying here, but my room was definitely in need of a refurbishment.

The Vasco is ideally located in Monte Gordo but the hotel is a little tired and needs a little TLC. Food is good but repetitive, the staff are helpful and attentive. Monte Gordo as a resort is superb. Jet 2 were brilliant we have booked with them again

This hotel is not excellent or vert good. The staff are excellent and hard working. Food and Drink let this hotel down. 4 euros for a 400ml beer is expensive. 565ml is a pint. The food in the hotel is aversge at best. At the end of the day it is a tired 3 star hotel nothing more. As long as you aware you won't be disappointed. No reflection on the hard working staff. Would I come back. Honestly no. The hotel attracts pensioners. The 5 star reviews are unbelievable. Rooms, corridors etc are tired.

Stayed here for 7 days last week. First time to the East Algarve Hotel was fantastic Fast wifi all over hotel and pool area Great position 100 mtrs from beach with long boardwalk Beach is superb and you can walk for miles each way. Close to a selection of bars, restaurants and supermarkets Room - large,clean,comfortable beds,large bathroom with great shower,free safe,free aircon. Cleaned every day. Staff - all helpful - special mention for Victor and Nicole in Bar Food - Breakfast - great selection of hot and cold food - Selection of eggs,bacon,sausage,beans,tomatoes,cereals,fruit,cold meats,cheeses,tea,coffee,orange juice plus good selection of bread/rolls plus fast toaster Dinner - soup,large salad selection,choice of 2/3 fish dishes and 2 meat dishes,potatoes,vegetables,rice,pasta,3/4 cakes,ice cream,fruit Bar - resonable prices, good selection of spirit brands,draught lager,bottled beer/cider,wine - Happy hour 17.00 to 18.00 half price - 2 large gordons gin and schweppes tonic 6.50 - cheaper than Wetherspoons Pool area - always clean with plenty of new sunbeds - pool looked nice but a bit too cold to go in Didn't try the gym Would recomend this hotel to anyone who wants a "chilled out" break 90% of clients over 50 with mixture of British/Dutch/German/Scandanavians The only fault I could find was that the hairdryers were not very powerful - take your own and a kettle if you want a drink in your room Hope to stay here again next year

Visited the Hotel as a couple in October for one week's holiday. 25c to 19c in their winter mths. Beautiful clean hotel, but very dated, large & small pools within hotel grounds, & lots of sunbeds but you were not allowed to eat around the pool and there was no waiter service for drinks you had to get up and go to cafe to order drinks yourself. Great views of restaurants & beach & lovely walkways from hotel. Meals in hotel were mainly fish dishes with a couple of days meat dishes. Ate mainly soup & salads as have a allergy to fish. Entertainment not very good, man on keyboard playing music from 40s & 50s not so good, then a Elvis impersonator who was appalling, missed words out of songs and slurred his words, believed he was drunk. Drinks very old fashioned no flavored gins, no cordials, no cider,only old fashioned cocktails plain gin, whisky, brandy, and their own beer. Happy hour between 5/6pm each day half price drinks. We enquired about cider as my partner is a celiac & could only drink cider, they then got him some from restaurant on the beach that they own. Lifts to our room only took two people, had to take your own cases to room no help from front desk. There was a games room and Tv/reading room where most pensioners read or slept during the day. Our room was opposite the Laundry room & at 9am every morning you heard the cleaning staff shouting & the radio switched on. We ate out at Willem cafe just up the road from hotel great food/drinks. At night we went to Tochans Irish bar which sold all types of drinks & had great music and asthmopher, & a great meal at the Blue Parrot worth a visited, lovely friendly restaurant. Airport was chaos no order just heared in to a group and find your own way about. Took 2hrs from getting off plane to getting through customs to getting our bags. Lovely weather though in winter, walking about in shorts and t/shirts, locals walking around in jumpers and wooly clothes. Would never return to that place, but if you are looking for a laid back relaxing hotel then that's the place to be.

My wife and I have just returned from a 4 night mini break at Vasco De Gama Hotel, booked through Jet2.The whole trip was excellent. Jet2 as usual were spot on. The hotel overall was great. Some comments from previous reviews beggar belief. Our room was really good with comfy bed, lots of storage, roomy balcony and a very comfy huge bed. Room cleaned daily. We were half board and found all the food to be hot, tasty, plentiful and well presented. Great staff throughout the hotel. This hotel has a unique charm. The Monte Gordo area was vibrant for late October with lots to do. Fantastic beach.
