We stayed in a historic king room, it was clean and very charming. Our only complaint is that the walls are thin and the street noise was quite loud waking us up during the night; everything else was more than satisfactory.

Great location! I had a conference at the Monterey Conference which is less than a 3 min walk! Only thing was that there was no AC, I’m so used to assuming that hotels always have AC, but it was my bad for not checking ahead of time. I asked for a roll out bed, and they were able to provide that, depending on availability at no extra cost. Had a good stay! Quite historical hotel.

The room is old, the sound insulation is too bad, and the price/performance ratio is too bad.

The room is too small and the furniture is too old. More importantly, the hotel manager is really unprofessional. He took the opportunity to raise the price and suggested that Chinese people choose other hotels when they go to Monterey.

Walking distance to Fisherman’s wharf & plenty of restaurant . The room is very clean and loaded . All the staff are friendly & nice . Highly recomended .

Cute property and very walkable area. The furniture and style in the rooms was fun and very period-inspired, but so are the walls and windows so it was very loud in the room with traffic and bird noise.

This hotel is in a great location. Easy walk to restaurants, bars, Golden State Theater and Fisherman's wharf. Would definitely stay again. Parking was valet($30), but a garage is one block away. Also, a bit noisy on the Alvarado street side. I'll ask for a quieter room next time.

The bed was OLD AND felt we were sleeping on a BOD with springs and at a downward slope. Every time you turned it was extremely loud. The people in the next room you can hear every conversation.. we heard the bed banging and creaking from there sexual encounters . All night. It was AWFUL. Location was great!

Check in and location are great! The hotel itself is a little on the older side so that might bother some people but it’s good for a quick stay.

Kinda far from everything but lovely building. Also every night was interrupted sleep from construction work or birds so not the most restful sleep I've had.

We enjoyed our overnight stay in this historic old hotel. The hotel is located on one of the main streets in Monterey, so late night activity is to be expected, and did not bother us. The room was on the top floor and well appointed. We had a peekaboo view of the bay which was nice. They have a "grab and go" in the morning for guests which consists of a few different kinds of granola bars and coffee, but there are plenty of places around to get a full breakfast. Our only negative was that the floor had not been vacuumed, but we did check in just after 3:00pm and we felt they may not have had time to vacuum yet. It was not bad and we would have asked them to do so if it was. We would definitely stay there again!

the place didn't have parking and the area for our room didn't have stairs. The room was very small.

When they said historical, they meant it. Chipping paint old carpet with stains. Very noisy & a window was slightly open. We believe it was due to an odor. We couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Unfortunately, it was my mistake. I thought I had reservations for the Monterey Hotel Plaza & spa. I’ll be more careful next time. We do not recommend this property.
