La Casa Sul Nilo

Excellent large appartment with high ceilings and beautiful furniture in the heart of the ancient city center of Naples. Very good service by Luigi, who was right on time and instant responses to messages.

You can easily miss it from the outside but it’s tucked behind an ornate door right in the heart of Piazzetta Nilo at one end of the famous street. In a stereotypically Neapolitan courtyard, Luigi (the owner) met us and made us feel right at home. He led us up to the apartment, showed us how everything works (including all the various keys!) and left us with complimentary blood orange juice and a long list of the best non-touristy places for Pizza, Pizza Fritta and Gelato. Room was spotless and very nicely designed with a working aircon that is very important during a Napoli summer! A great place to chill out after a long day in the city - great for a weekend getaway. Would highly recommend!

Bang in the middle of the centro storico (historic centre) of Naples. Great room on the 2nd floor with a sweet view. Very clean. The housekeeping lady was hands down the happiest person I met in Naples! 2nd only to her beaming smile, emphatic wave and a wonderful buongiorno was Luigi, who checked us into the room at midnight after the flight was delayed with an equally emphatic welcome. Thanks both for making us feel so welcome! :) There is a lot going on in this area alone, from the veiled christ sculpture at Cappella Sansevero (2 mins walk), some of the best food in Naples at La Locanda Gesu Vecchio (3 mins), Palazzo Petrucci Pizzeria (2 mins) and Tandem (30secs) plus the out of this world pastries at Gran Caffe Ciorfito (5 mins). Not forgetting Shanti Art Music Bar literally across the street. Could not think of a better place to stay, when we come back I'm definitely booking here again. (About the only bad thing was the taxi that we booked via their link, which was 160euro's return. It's supposed to be about 30euro's each way, but we couldn't find a cheaper alternative online and didn't want to deal with finding one upon arrival as we have a couple of kids so despite this being a bit of a rip off, it was the safest option.) The apartment is about 15mins drive from the airport and a 20 min walk to the main train/metro station (Garibaldi) where you can the train to Pompeii (Pompei Scavi) or Vesuvius and Herculaneum (Ercalano Scavi) - for all of these, you need the Circumvesuviana line - which is the main line from Naples to Sorrento - from Garibaldi, it's usually platform 3 and takes about 15min to Ercolano, maybe 40 to Pompeii. Overall, heartily recommend this place, you won't be disappointed!
