Another great lunch today, excellent food &service as usual, staff are very friendly. We live in the New Forest and have to travel to this pub because no pubs in this area can come close to the Prince Consort. We have booked today for Easter Sunday but I'm sure we will visit again before then.

We stopped over here for two nights , us two and two dogs The room was very well appointed and clean with plenty of coffee and tea etc. The shower was good , in fact almost too good as the shower and sink have tremendous water pressure so care needed filling the kettle and when I inadvertently turned the shower on too far for the first time the shower head nearly shot off of the wall. Good double glazing means not too much noise from the nearby beer garden if you need an early night. The Royal Victoria Park is a very short walk away and we'll worth a visit as well as the cemetery. We ate in the pub the first night and had a very good meal ,the second night we had fish and chips from up the road and ate them looking over the sea . So , reasonable price , good location, grade 2 listed building, comfy bed, dog friendly, good food and friendly staff and a good shower . Minus points .. Taps on the sink very short which makes it difficult to fill the kettle and a fiddly handle on the door to the room which makes the door difficult to close from the outside if you have big fingers .

We had a lovely stay (room for 3) - room clean and had all the little extras - bottle of water each, tea, coffee, biscuits, towels, shower gel and shampoo each, a fan too! Beds lovely and comfy and a little heater. We booked in for a Christmas dinner for 8 of us and it was amazing - beautifully cooked and presented and big portions! Totally recommend!!!

We arrived later on a friday evening...check in was in the pub itself at the bar, which was friendly and efficient. We we directed to our room which is located in the annex at the back of the pub itself. The room was clean and comfortable. Fresh towels and water bottles provided. Beds were very comfortable. We returned to the pub and managed to get a booking for a meal, which was much appreciated as the place was full of people eating. The meal itself was lovely, well presented, hot and very tasty. For breakfast we were asked what time we would like and were told it would be served in the pub. The breakfast was tasty, local products were used, staff were very friendly. Overall although we only stayed for one night as were going on a cruise next day, i would recommend the Prince Consort to others and would stay again without any reservations.

Stayed just for the night as taking part at the big eat in Victoria park as just down the road … It’s a pub with all the rooms at the back & has a free car park at the side of the property .. The food was excellent had an evening meal & breakfast loads of choices .. Room was on the small side but to be honest had everything we needed for the night including teas & coffee / towels & tv Even a fan in the room if needed Staff were brilliant and really helpful

I stayed here for 1 night during a sailing course in Southampton August 2023, the staff were very kind and made sure I had everything I needed. The evening meal was way better than I would expect from a pub, you could tell the food there was popular with local people, the restaurant was nice and busy, and breakfast was 1st class, a top place to stay if you are in the area.

The rooms are the best stocked i have seen in a hotel. Extremely generous tea and coffee etc. The pub food seemed a simple menu, but the food was excellent in portion size, quality and taste. The price was amazing. Two courses for 3 people and 5 beers was 65 quid. Bargain. Breakfast was very good. The food was piping hot and again tasty. Cannot fault the staff, really friendly. Highly recommend.

I choose the place because I need a place to take pictures of incoming cruise ships. The location was about two minutes away by car to an excellent location to take pictures. We arrived at 22:00 hrs in Poole and could not make it until 23:00 hrs when the pub was closing. But they were very kind and said they would be there until 23:30 hrs. We made it to 23:15 hrs, so not a problem at all. Leave your baggage in the trunk since the rooms were outside the main building; you must not carry it all to the bar for registration. In the room: everything was in what you needed, and everything was clean. To my surprise: we got the same brand of shower gel we would get on Cunard ships! We had to go to the main building to get breakfast the following day. We found an excellent selection of cereals on the bar and a breakfast menu; everything was prepared freshly. As a non-English, I was impressed by the size of the plate and the variation. The Password to enter the WiFi could be less complicated!!!
