Good setting just out of town with only a 15 minute walk to the Cathedral. The Rooms were spacious though a bit dark. Good bed & shower. Nice little enclosed, and private grassed area. The food was nouvelle cuisine with a limited menu offering very limited choice. Whilst one expects very small portions with this type of cooking, having, for example, a floret of cauliflower and calling it a main course is having a joke. The chef is unable or unwilling to provide any alternatives if one is allergic to any dish or if one would want for anything different. This is not 4 star service. The lounge is dark and lacks any cosiness or ambience. The decor is modern art - one either loves or hates it. Personally, having a meal with a painting of a girl having blood running out of her eye is not what I would have in mind for a conducive evening! Drinks from the bar were really expensive. The staff were very pleasant and efficient - special shout out to Clare. For some reason, the poor waiters had to don bizarre leatherwear. There was an issue with the bill which was thankfully sorted out, but the fact that it occurred at all, left a bit of a bad feeling. For the price and the food issues, I would not recommend a stay, which is a shame as it does have several good points
