The approach to this hotel is very impressive - down a long tree lined drive to a beautiful large masseria, set in charming grounds. We had a very warm welcome, and shown around the property, which is idyllic. The room was not really to my taste. It was if a deranged crafter had been given free rein - stencilling, appliquéing, up-cycling and be-ribboning everything in sight. This was a shame, as the bones of the room were stunning, and it would have benefited from a more pared back trea**ent. They also do not replace the two small bottles of water after the first day, something that we did not experience in the other masseria that we visited, where water was replaced every day. The food was good, both for lunch and dinner. The guy in charge of breakfast was totally charming and efficient, but I didn’t really like the served buffet - better to make it all served to table, or help yourself, rather than this halfway house, which felt like a hangover from Covid restrictions. There were a lot of flies in the hotel. Not their fault, I’m sure, but we didn’t experience this in any other hotel we visited on our trip. Overall though, a good stay, and despite my gripes, this is obviously a much loved and cared for hotel.
