Wonderfull place to stay in the middle of green ricefields. We visited this resort now for the 3rd time. This is the real Thailand. In the middle of rice field at the foot of the mountains it is an oase of silence and beauty. When you don't like the mass tourism like Pukhet, Pattaya etc. you better go north to the best side of Thailand. At the resort is everything you need for a very relaxed stay after a trekking through the mountans. Good and fresh food from own organic gardens in the nice open restaurant. We parked our motorhome for 5 mounth during our stay in Holland. De owner took care of it. Thanks a lot. When we came back everything was perfect. There is a nice and clean swimmingpool. There are original wooden Thai houses for sleeping. No airco but fans, for us it was OK. The houses are beautiful. You also can stay in one off the comfortable brickhouses including airco. The houses are situated in a well maintained beautifull garden, with the sound of nature. The staf is very friendly and helpfull and they can give a lot of info. We can highly recommend this resort when you are travelling through the north of Thailand and want to have a relaxed break for some days. Ad and Bernadette

An excellent place to enjoy peace, nature, good food, chilling and a place to stay on the way north or on the way from the north. GPS (anroid/ google maps) was needed to find it. Thank you so much for the great owner and staff.

Another option about one km south of the main centre is the fantastic Phrao Boutique Hotel. It is super quiet, super clean, 500B for double room with breakfast, hot water, wifi. Lovely terrace to sit outside overlooking rice fields.

We stayed here for three days in late January. Beware this place is really difficult to find. Yes we should have printed the maps from their website but still would have struggled to find the place with them. In fact, a member of staff of the local bank got in our hire car with us and took us to Doi Farang - so typical of the fantastic friendly Thai people, otherwise we would still be circling Phrao. Doi Farang is beautifully set out with pool and gardens plus their own veggie garden. We were the only visitors and had our own chef to cook Thai food for us - these meals were delicious. One night we had a schnitzel night where Michael our host cooked, very good with the freshest salad ever. A couple of negatives, the beds are rock hard and the showers not very good. The road through the rice field is difficult and therefore you are locked in at night as you can't leave the premises due to the difficulty navigating the road in the dark. All in, a good 3 days but with room for improvement. Not a lot of other options in Phrao

I stumbled upon this place while exploring the Phrao valley and found a little slice of heaven here! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the grounds are extremely beautiful and well-maintained. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the whole place is quiet and peaceful. I felt so relaxed and at ease there, like I could easily spend my days leisurely enjoying the grounds and the atmosphere.

This is one of my favourite places to visit. I've been coming here every time I can since 2004. Stunning traditional (and also modern) buildings and amazing gardens. It's tranquil, It's restful, If you're an artist, writer, or musician like me it's a great place to escape the world and focus on your creative side. I love checking in to one of the traditional rice barns and enjoying basking on the balconies. It's one of my favourite places in the world. Actually ignore this post. Don't go there! I want it all to myself!

Doi Farang is an excellent choice if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of touristy hotspots. Michael is a super helpful host and will tell you about things to do and see in the vicinity of Phrao. He also made us a special German dinner on the second night, which was delicious. Accommodation is simple but clean and the venue is just beautiful, with farm animals and friendly cats running around. If you're looking for a quite place and memorable experiences, Doi Farang is the place to go.

We were only there for one night during the cold season. The Lanna House is beautiful. The beds in our room weren't exactly wonderful; I would have preferred new bedding and mattresses. Otherwise, it was very well maintained. The dinner was good.

We had idyllic accommodation in a former rice barn with a private bathroom. The owner is very helpful. We can recommend Doi Farang to anyone who wants to get off the beaten track. The surrounding area is easy to explore by bike. T+U
