The hotel is very posh and luxurious. Great location, within 5 minutes walk to main street. Right outside the hotel, there are robot guides that you can rent to ride through the city. Breakfast is delicious, and the service provided is perfect. The only downside is the room is a bit old.

I've found out about Jinzhai in the middle of COVID and wanted to stay here in for years. It met all my expectations and more! All the staff were incredibly generous and sweet with my daughter. Just book early because not many rooms are available and may book out fast with tour groups. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

What a superb courtyard boutique hotel, located within the famous and iconic Pingyao ancient city this lovingly restored courtyard residence ticks all the boxes, beautiful rooms, ever present and friendly staff, and a location right on the main walking streets of the city. Here one can immerse oneself in Chinese history while enjoying 21st century comforts.
We could easily have stayed another night.

Great hotel at a great location inside the Ancient City. Accommodations are really well maintained and looks like just renovated, while keeping the historical ambiance.
Hotel staff speaks English and were very caring during our stay.
Great place for a relaxing time. Quiet environment.

This hotel was stunning. Located in the heart of the city. Very charming, it feels like going back in time.
Staff is extremely nice and helpful. Crystal at concierge was there for us all the time.
Definitely recommended.
Only down point: the hotel is very difficult to find. To keep a higher level of exclusivity there is not a single indication on the street. Took a while and some local help to manage.

During the May Day holiday, I brought my children to Pingyao Ancient City. Walking through the bustling streets and entering Jinzhai, the hustle and bustle of the outside world was immediately cut off by the heavy wooden door, leaving only the tranquility and leisure of the courtyard.
Afternoon tea is especially worth experiencing. Order a pot of old Pu'er tea, with snacks and fruits, and look at the people coming and going outside the window, like watching a movie. This "slow down" time is probably the most healing moment of the journey.
If you are tired of the same old hotels, the elegance of Jinzhai's "hidden in the city" is worth a special trip to experience.
