"I was so touched! Right after I got off the high-speed train, the inn owner was already waiting for me by the roadside in his car. Since cars can't enter the ancient city gate, the owner switched to an electric scooter and continued to take me to the inn, free of charge. The proprietress helped me carry my luggage to the second floor, which I felt really bad about, but was deeply moved by! I absolutely love the style of this room. After check-in, the proprietress grabbed a map and meticulously explained tips for exploring Pingyao Ancient City and important details to note, making everything very clear. I love Shanxi; I felt such attentive care here. When it was time to leave, the owner offered to drive me to the high-speed train station again. I felt embarrassed and decided to leave early and take a taxi to the station myself, then informed the owner via WeChat. He immediately asked if I had gotten into the car yet, offering to drive me if I hadn't. Oh, I was so moved! I told him I had really gotten into a car and didn't need him to drive, wishing his business prosperity and continued success! For anyone planning a trip to Pingyao Ancient City, choose this place; it's very reliable, you won't go wrong!"

"The biggest surprise of my trip to Pingyao Ancient City was staying at the Red Lantern Guesthouse. Stepping into the ancient courtyard with its grey bricks and gently swaying red lanterns, I instantly felt transported back to the charming old days of a Jin merchant's compound. The guesthouse boasts an excellent location, tucked away in the heart of the ancient city. It's a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling streets, within walking distance of the City Tower, Ming and Qing Street, and all the major banks and escort agencies, making exploring the ancient city incredibly convenient. The historic courtyard retains its authentic Jin style, with beautifully carved beams reflecting the lantern light, creating an elegant and secluded atmosphere. The rooms are clean and tasteful, equipped with all modern amenities, including separate wet/dry areas and smart toilets. It's a perfect balance of old-world charm and contemporary comfort. What truly stood out was the incredibly thoughtful service from the staff. For those arriving by car, they arrange a shuttle service to and from the parking lot, saving you the hassle of dragging luggage over cobblestone streets. The housekeeper was meticulous and attentive, patiently explaining ancient city tour routes and even gifting us souvenirs and a guide. In the morning, I'd relax in the courtyard, and in the evening, I'd watch the red lanterns illuminate the ancient walls, fully immersing myself in the local life and ancient charm of Pingyao. Whether it's for travel convenience, comfortable accommodation, or the overall ambiance, everything was impeccable. It was the most wonderfully therapeutic place to stay in Pingyao, and without a doubt, I'll choose it again on my next visit!"

"The location is absolutely fantastic, very close to the city center. When we checked in, they upgraded our room for free, and the owner even helped us with our luggage. When we left, they gave us some handmade vinegar from their shop, and also free outfits and discount vouchers for popular restaurants. It was absolutely wonderful! Since I have relatives in Pingyao, I'll definitely bring them to stay here next time."

"Excel·lent place to stay, near the main street and with lots of places to eat nearby. The room was immense, clean and very comfortable and the bathroom was so modern and clean. We had an electric toilet where you could flush the toilet automatically and even warm the seat at a certain temperature. It was an experience! They gave us fresh fruit also and provided us with water and clean towels everyday. The hotel looks a little bit old and maybe it needs generally a bit more maintainacee and ckeanenkess but overall the bedroom was fantastic which is the most importants. The staff also speaks very good English and they helped us when we calked them as we didn't find first the hotel. Turns out that Harmony Hotel and Jade Garden Hotel is the same just in case maps doesn't bring you to the right place. Also the experience of sleeping in a traditional house with the gardens and patios outside it's Soo cool."

"We have really enjoyed our stay in Pingyao. The host is very friendly and helpful, and answered our questions very quickly. The room is very clean and nice. It is a nicely equipped room too, and we liked the loft feature. It was very easy to get around and in a great location. Will definitely recommend this hotel to all our family and friends."

A tea set is also provided, adding a cozy, home-like touch. The courtyard is adorned with lush greenery, seating, and picturesque landscaping, ideal for sunbathing. At night, it transforms with brilliant lights, creating a unique and enchanting ambiance. It's about a 10-minute walk from the ancient city's North Gate parking lot, with dedicated staff available to assist with luggage. Surrounded by numerous shops, it offers incredible convenience for shopping, dining, and sightseeing. The staff are warm, friendly, and provide excellent service. The design style is unique, the location is good, the equipment is cutting-edge, the service is good, the breakfast is exquisite and there are many categories, and I also prepared a souvenir for me. "It was a nice guesthouse, small but very clean. The owners were a husband and wife. I asked them about sharing a ride to Wutai Mountain beforehand, and they said they could help me find one when I arrived. Later, I found out that all the buses left at 7:30 pm. I was a little annoyed at the time, deciding that if I didn't know, I could have said so in advance. However, the owners were still very helpful and kept asking around. Their attitude was excellent, but it would be even better if they had more comprehensive information in the future. I wish them great success in their business."

"The location is excellent, away from the hustle and bustle of the ancient city but not too far. What's even better is the hotel's complimentary high-speed train station pick-up and drop-off service – just make sure to communicate and book in advance. They upgraded our room knowing we were traveling with a child, which was a nice touch. As expected from a Jinjiang Hotels property, the room was spotless and the facilities were modern. Plus, a free mini-bar? That's a unique perk for a hotel in this town at this price point. Overall, highly recommended!"

Every brick and stone tells a story. Every street and alley narrates tales of the past and present. Kang Qian Ji Mansion is located at No. 33, Chang Xiang Street, within the ancient city of Pingyao. It was constructed in 1838 during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Currently, it is a county-level cultural heritage site. It was originally the residence of Wang Jin-ting, the manager of the Pingyao Tiancheng Heng Bank’s Hankou branch. Wang Jin-ting (1859–1938), whose full name was Quan Yi and whose courtesy name was Jin-ting, was from the village of Xi Zhang Zhao in Pingyao. In his youth, he worked in the Tiancheng Heng Bank. After the bank’s collapse, he was recommended by Lu Rongting, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, to serve as an assistant manager at the Guangxi Bank. In 1924, Wang Jin-ting purchased the residence at No. 33 Chang Xiang Street in Pingyao’s ancient city, which had originally been a government residence. The courtyard’s floor plan features a pair of phoenixes spreading their wings, with the phoenix facing the grain market and its tail extending over the Helaoxian Bridge, symbolizing vitality and auspiciousness. The courtyard has weathered the passage of time, and with the changes in society, it was acquired by Kang Qian Ji Catering Company in 2025. We uphold the “Deren” principle of the Jin merchants, striving to restore and maintain the original state of the courtyard. The courtyard’s brick carvings of the麒麟 delivering children symbolize the owner’s dedication to preserving the Jin merchant culture and their best wishes for the guests. The wooden carvings of the phoenix and dragon support the pillars, showcasing the courtyard’s grandeur and elegance. Additionally, we have incorporated environmental and humanistic sciences to adopt a modern, luxurious style within the rooms, equipped with smart guest control systems, custom-made bathrooms, and ergonomically designed memory foam bedding and mattresses.
