Jaz Soma Beach

The Solymar beach resort is not the most expensive resort in the Hurghada/Safaga area, but it’s also not the cheapest. Because of this, we were expecting it to be quite middle-of-the-range in terms of quality. At every turn, we were pleasantly surprised and delighted. The staff were friendly and courteous - whether at the reception, in the restaurant, or walking past someone watering the grass, you are guaranteed a friendly greeting. Everyone is quick to know their customers - after just a day in our usual spot on the beach, Ahmed knew our usual order. The hyper-energetic Magic Entertainment team members were also quick to build rapport and make us feel included in the resort vibes. We plunged immediately into extreme relaxation with a “honeymoon massage” at the spa, which included time in the dry and steam saunas, a special hammam exfoliation ritual on a heated marble slab, a full-body Dead Sea mud wrap, and an oil massage. The masseuses were talkative and playful - possibly not to everyone’s taste, but this seems to be the Egyptian way and certainly got me smiling and giggling along. There is not a moment of the day when you might be at risk of going hungry. From the early breakfast in the main restaurant, to the late breakfast at the beach, to the drinks and snacks on offer throughout the day at the pool bar and restaurant, there is always a wide array of quality F&B choices. There is some variation from day -to-day options, and it’s always worth checking out the “fresh-from-the-grill” area to see what the day’s speciality may be. Part of the stay includes one complementary meal at one of the two a la carte restaurants (Italian/Egyptian) where the food is a level or two up from what’s served in the buffets. Go hungry - the Egyptian meal included a starter of hot and cold mezze, a soup, a main course and a dessert (with alternative plant-based and kiddies’ menus). The resort has done a lot to ensure that it is eco friendly. Apart from the usual request to hang up towels to save water on unnecessary cleaning, they also purify their own water, which is left in your room in chilled glass bottles (it tastes a little weird, but it’s good for the planet). Overall, highly recommend the Solymar resort.

As we arrived late we arranged a private transfer to the hotel. Its a forty minute journey by taxi. Check in was a quick affair and we were given a bag with with a drink and a sandwich. We were taken to our rooms and our luggage was brought to us. We had asked for a balcony room but were given a ground floor, this was changed the next day. The room was a good size for space and plenty of room for hanging clothes. There is a safe as well. The Bathroom was spacious but the shower was a rain type with very little power. The room was cleaned daily with bottled water replenished . Both pool and bath towels were replaced on request. The beach is nice and sandy with plenty of parasols and beds, each is numbered to aid the waiter who brings drinks to you. You can fit three beds under the shade. The sea was refreshing after the hot sun and walking over the hot sand, with an area for swimming marked off and with a lifeguard on duty. There is a turtle who swims in the bay and is often spotted swimming about. The drinks waiter Ahmed was a great guy who always asked if you wanted a drink. He appreciated a tip. The pool was large and always a little cooler than the sea so very nice to cool off at the end of the day. Breakfast was the usual with a guy cooking omelettes and another cooking pancakes. There was cereal, breads and a lot of choice of pastries and fruit. Our waiter was Rafael who is a credit to the hotel, we were never without drinks. The only thing I personally missed was proper coffee not machine made. There is no eating outside at the main restaurant but there is a late breakfast at the beach restaurant. At the restaurant in the evening they have daily specials night along with regular choices. One of the chefs always cooked some meat kebabs, a different roast meat daily with fish everyday which included delicious prawns and there was also salad and galore breads. If you wanted anything you just had to ask. We ate at the Beach restaurant one evening which was a lot less crowded but with plenty of staff and the food was lovely and plentiful though less choice. Both restaurants had a wide choice of desserts. There was entertainment on every night including a jet water display on the pool and they held white night, Gatsby night and pink night too. The hotel is remote but there is always something to do and day trips out are easy to arrange. We would definitely return. The hotel will be changing to become a full Jaz hotel ready for next season.

We went here for the first time with friends, we are 2 couples. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week here and were sad to leave! We received excellent service from everyone but special mention to Amir and Ahmed on the beach, Sameh and Awaad in the restaurants and sous chef Mustafa. Also, thank you to Mohammed who made up our room every day and made some amazing towel displays! We spent most of our time on the beach, we just loved being able to take a dip in the sea several times a day and loved the view. My only complaint is that we kept getting interrupted to be asked if everything is ok with the room, food etc etc and to be asked to join in activities - personally I like to be left in peace especially if it’s obvious I’m well into a good book! We took a snorkelling trip from the beach at our hotel and it was excellent. There was a great little crew and they took videos and pictures which we paid extra for but well worth it. There are also 3 turtles that live in the area and we saw them pop up every day when we were taking a dip in the sea - they come quite close to the shore sometimes. We enjoyed the food that was on offer for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all tasty and a good selection.

We were really sorry to leave this hotel. The service was great since the moment we arrived. We had booked this hotel for 6 nights and Jazz Aquamarine for 5 nights, that is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. We regretted that a lot and wished we had stayed at Solymar the entire trip. If you are looking for a really nice hotel that is not to big and with really nice service look no further. The beach is small but beautiful and nice swimming pools. We wil surely come back some day.

My stay in Solymar soma beach was pretty good! The Guest manager and the staff were very kind and friendly. We really enjoyed the vacation there and we’re already looking forward for the vacation in the hotel next year. Thanks to guest manager and to all employees in the hotel for your hospitality.

Solymar Soma beach is a great hotel, lots of great entertainment and the animations team were brilliant. Also happy, engaging and can’t do enough for you. The rooms were very clean and spacious. A great range of food on offer and Chef Mostafa is the most amazing,kind,helpful and funny man, he is worth is weight in gold. So caring about everyone’s health. He made my holiday. I have made a friend for life. From the top management to the cleaners everyone made us feel like family. The beach / pool guys kept us topped up with drinks all day always with a laugh and a smile always on hand for any request. We have just got home from a weeks stay, and it was lovely. The staff can’t do enough for you, and go above and beyond. The biggest shout out to Ibrahim the waiter who was the most loveliest, kindest man who always worked so so hard. In our room we had a folding camp bed given for one of our children, which was not suitable or safe as it kept collapsing - so we ended up having one child in bed with us. The food was ok, but really not the best. It was very samey and quite repetitive. I have to say we weren’t impressed. The bottled water situation I’m not keen on either, I do feel like this could be the cause of a lot of tummy upset going on. We ended up spending quite a lot of money in the shop on site buying constant bottled water just to be safe. We were also told the pink pool party was every Friday which my children were looking forward too, however the week we stayed it was on the Saturday we were travelling home, which was a shame. Other than that the entertainment was fab and the mini disco every night for the children was great. Overall, it was a great stay and the staff make sure they are always there to rectify any issues and make sure you are happy.

How to describe Our holidays at Solymar....one word.. FANTASTIC... The most appreciated aspect is the kindness and EFFICIENCY of the staff ...they are very friendly and here for every request...a special mention to MADAME Messaouda who made sure to make our stay at Solymar DELIGHTFUL AND RELAXING.. The rooms were very comfortable and the cleaning staff extremely efficient. The restaurants and the buffet were a pleasure for the eye and the pallet. No need to speak about the swimming pools and the beach it was a DREAM! I surely recommend this place for the families!
