Pretty standard premier inn layout wise. Bed very comfortable as always room ok, some mention it seeming smaller than usual, we didn’t really notice. The whole place is showing its age. The bedding and bedroom was clean but the rest of the place didn’t seem to have the same standards of cleanliness. Our bedroom looked over the main road and although tripple glazed still gets a touch noisy. Probably won’t have call to use this prem again but would avoid anyway, a shame but true. Check in lady was friendly didn’t come across any other hotel staff. Not the premier in but the attached beefeater was grubby, sticky surfaces every where, bar, tables, floor near the bar. The whole site needs a refresher, won’t stop me using premier inn again but not this one.

Visiting family nearby, this was convenient at a reasonable price. I didn't need parking or breakfast, had dinner at the Beefeater one night and it was perfectly adequate. The staff were all extremely friendly and professional. The room had all the basics, (towels, hairdryer, kettle and mugs, TV, desk, sitting chair) which was all I needed as I wasn't there to do much more than shower and sleep. The bathroom was very clean, lots of hot water and complimentary shower gel and shampoo. The only negative was the temperature in the room. Basildon was having unseasonably hot weather the week I was there and there was no air conditioning in the room, the corridors or the little check in lobby. Leaving the window open was not an option for me (traffic noise, travelling solo, plus that would just let the hot air in!) All in all, it was a good stay and I would stay here again if I needed to.

The hotel is cheap, so what you see is what you get. Staff were really friendly. Rooms are tiny compared to other Premier Inns. The hotel is tatty and in need of a refurb! There was damp around the windows and the bathroom skirting boards. The carpets had gum stains and burn marks, could do with a good scrub! It was clean-ish, shower was hot. Chose not to have breakfast as Beefeater was also tatty. If Premier Inn put this on their refurb list it would be great.

If only the building and restaurant were as good as the staff . One word sums it up. "Tatty!" The hotel building needs some tlc, The restaurant needs a bloody good clean and tidy up . Which is shame as they served up a really good cooked breakfast. All the staff were really friendly and polite .

Dirty and smelly hotel. The whole place needs a good clean. Carpets were sticky and dirty, the rooms smelt damp, the remote for the tv looks like it hasn’t been wiped over in years. Not a nice feeling to the hotel. We won’t be staying here again.

Spent two nights at this hotel visiting family in Essex. We only encountered one member of staff who did not seem annoyed at our mere presence. This was the guy at breakfast after our first night. We booked and paid for an early check in room at a cost of £15. This was supposed to be available from 11.00. We arrived at 12.00 and were told that the room was not ready as previous guests had only just checked out. When we complained an upstairs room was offered to us and rejected by us due to mobility issues and no lift. Another lady intervened and a ground floor room was found but this was not ready until 12.30. Again we complained about early booking fee and first receptionist said “but I found you a room”. As if she had done us a favour. We asked for housekeeping for next day as staying for two nights. When we returned to the room, it was exactly as we had left it. We complained again and were given clean towels for the morning. The beefeater next door was just as bad. There were no clean glasses at the bar and we were told to bring our glasses back each time to be used again. We waited over two hours for a table in the restaurant and once seated could not see any reason for the delay as there were only two other tables being occupied. My medium rare steak looked like it had been cooked a week earlier and could have been used to resolve a shoe. Unable to complain as waitress never returned to us after bringing food to ask how it was. Staff heard saying “I do not get paid enough for this” and children running round restaurant waiting for their parents to finish work. Unsure if this was waiting staff or kitchen staff. Finally breakfast last day was awful. I asked for bacon and poached eggs which at a cost of £10.99 each, I would have expected to be able to eat it. The bacon was swimming in grease and I do not know what sort of eggs I got as they certainly were not poached as also swimming in grease. They very much looked as the”poaching process” had taken place in a frying pan. Would never stay there again.

We always stay here, the staff are amazing, they all welcome us and remember us from previous stays. The kids colouring area is always a hit with my children. The bedrooms are spotless, perfect pillows. Booking a table in the Beefeater is always recommended as it gets busy. We love it here!

Great staff Jackie on reception very welcoming and professional. easy check in . I was given information what was available in the local area which was a bonus and nice to know. The room was nice and clean and the bed very comfortable. Nicely located there was a Beefeater Resturant so convient for my evening meal and a great Breakfast.
