Finca Escalante

I had been recommended to stay here by a family member who visited a few years ago, but was sadly very disappointed. I was charged $20 for checking in late, which was more than I paid for my bed for the night. I wasn’t told about the late check in fee until after it was too late to cancel my stay, and had informed them of my check in time when I booked months in advance. When I arrived at midnight after a late flight I was shown to my bed but not where any other facilities were. I was woken at 5am by other very noisy guests so got up to use the bathroom, but didn’t know where they were. I found two toilet/shower rooms but both were in use so I had to wait 40 mins!! Not sure what the guest capacity is, and whether there are more bathrooms than the two I found, but this really didn’t feel like enough. When I did get to use them, and again the following day, they were dirty, with cockroaches on the floor and soaking wet bath mats. The dorm room was ok and I was assigned a locker, but the mattress was plastic so very hot, and the sheets and pillow case were stained and ripped. Breakfast was a DIY buffet, but the toaster didn’t work and the only vegan options were fruit. It’s a shame as it’s a beautiful property and the staff I met seemed friendly but I wouldn’t stay here again

We stayed here just for one night before we caught our bus home. The hostel is SO cute! We weren’t here for long, but we did enjoy it while we were there. We would definitely recommend it to others! This place is advertised as a hotel, but it has more of a hostel vibe. There are some private rooms, but most of our group stayed in a dorm room.
