This hotel is located just by the Shanklin beach and it’s handy for the Shanklin railway station. The staff is really friendly and breakfast is pretty good. More importantly, the room is cozy and comfy with beautiful seaside views. Highly recommend.

We were a group of 10 Muslim ladies and we all felt as if we had come home the staff were friendly and very helpful and the rooms were clean bed very comfortable and breakfast and location was amazing I will definitely stay here if I came back

I found the Clifton Hotel to have positives and negatives. It's position on top of the cliff in Shanklin is very good. As was the excellent breakfast. The lounge,bar and outside arras were also good Negatives. It appears that our luxury room was adjacent to a doss house in a somewhat delapidated state. There is no lift. So if you fancy hauling your cases upstairs? The view to the rear of the hotel is none existant. You couldn't eat in your room. For me the bar menu was limited to basket meals. Also if you didn't want to drink the wine in the fridge they removed the wine glasses??? Would l stay at the Clifton again. Yes l would. But l would go for a room with a view to the front of the hotel. Take a room on a lower floor and ignore the no eating rule in the room imposed by the staff. I'd also take my own wine glasses

The hotel’s charm is in its friendliness and its situation looking out to sea. The breakfasts are a treat with a wide choice of fruit and cereal prior to a good cooked dish. A relaxing, quiet place to stay with a lovely conservatory and garden as well as easy access to a clifftop stroll and a nearby path down to the beach. Shanklin Old Village is a short amble away.

The B&B has an excellent location with stunning views and an easy walk into Shanklin town centre/old village and the beach. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and were given lots of information. The house is full of character and has been carved up over the years to create the en-suite bedrooms so we did experience some noise issues from adjoining rooms. However, our room was very comfortable, we had plenty of storage and hanging space and fantastic sea views. The bathroom was a little on the small size and could have done with an extra shelf for storing toiletries etc. The breakfast menu has lots of options and everything is cooked fresh to order. We would like to thank the Team for making our stay at the Clifton very enjoyable and memorable.

We stayed at The Clifton for 5 nights in a wonderful room overlooking the sea. The room had everything we needed with plenty of space and storage and amazing views. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice ( and the most delicious marmalade ever). We ate in the hotel every evening as we had been out exploring all day. There is a good range of light meals which was more than enough for us. Everything was very accessible and in easy walking distance but there is also a shuttle bus that takes you around Shanklin ( in the Summer only I think). We managed to see most of the island using the buses which were very reliable. We will definitely return to The Clifton. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely old victorian hotel with incredible views of the sea from the front rooms. Wonderful breakfast and the staff couldn't be nicer. You can get a newspaper in the morning.....who does that anymore? You can also have dinner or lunch there. Very convienient for people who like to walk. There is a walkway along the cliff right outside the door and you can walk down to the beach and Esplanade below. But too tired to hike back up the hill......there is a "LIFT" which will take you back up. Our room was lovely, although in July the sun comes streaming in quite early. We will stay there again.
