"The hotel is lovely, staff are friendly and helpful. The room we had needed to be updated really. It was very dark and the decor was dated. Bed was comfy."

"We were bed and breakfast The food was good but the restaurant was chaotic! The room was very good with a nice sea view,but the room was never cleaned during the 5 days of our stay! The staff on duty always tried to be helpful but they failed to forefill any of our requests! We asked for an iron, they hunted high and low for one but never found one!! The evening entertainment was very poor ! My biggest complaint was the parking arrangements!!!! I am disabled and I was assured disabled parking which didn't exist! There was one disabled space in the hotel ,but it was no wider than any other parking space!!!. I Parked in a parking space between the designated white lines at 3pm ,when I went to go out in the evening 3 coaches had parked in the coach area blocking my exit till the next morning.!!!!"

"It is an amazing hotel with great location and view. I wish it was a bit cleaner; we found a big hair ball in bathroom and a tea stain in bedsheets. Other than that it was great and will come back"

The Clifton

"Once again, the Clifton hotel proved to be a home from home. During our stay the weather was somewhat changeable but still managed a restful morning sat enjoying the sun on our room’s balcony, enjoying the uninterrupted sea view. For other times, when the weather was a bit more inclement, the hotel is friendly and cosy and sitting in the lounge and snug bar was perfectly relaxing. Sadly, the wet weather meant we couldn’t sit in the beautiful garden this time but who cares when delicious light meals and homemade cakes are available inside? The town centre is an easy walk from the hotel, as is the seafront and beach, the clifftop walk passes right in front of the hotel and Shanklin Chine at the end of the road. Of course, being the Isle of Wight, there is a great choice of attractions within a short distance. Back at the hotel, breakfast is good, the rooms are consistently clean and the beds comfortable – it’s always a wrench to leave at the end of our stay! Looking forward to returning next year."

"The overall experience was wonderful. You step in and your suitcases were sent to your room by staff. The atmosphere is clean, organised and well looked after. I stayed in a twin room and it was wonderful. We had a wonderful view of the sea, the room was big and spacious with plenty of storage areas. Each day your room would be tidied and cleaned and you could tell. They would restock essential needs without you asking. We had a buffet breakfast which was lovely as you could get whatever you wanted. Dinner was a three course meal which was extraordinary every night with a different menu each night. The staff were nice and would chat with us each night about our day. There is one person in particular that needs a massive shout out. That person is Andy. He is absolutely a wonderful, kind, funny soul. Who made the holiday so much better. He would make little memories with each person staying and would just make us smile. He has a great sense of humour and would do anything to please us. He is just wonderful. Andy if you’re reading this, this is Sophie and Lori Hazelden. The 9 1/2 pointers."
