After an absence of more than two years after the Moorland Restaurant declined badly, we returned to try the Restaurant in the hands of the new owners, as I promised after stopping in for a drink two weeks earlier. We were warmly greeted and shown to the bar by the new "Boss" and had a quiet drink and a very pleasant chat with him over the small, and very nicely varied menu. Having suffered a very poor standard of steak under the previous owners, I teased him gently about the quality of the steak now served and he immediately rose to the challenge assuring me that he would personally ensure that I was pleased. He did not disappoint as I was served an extremely high quality Sirloin Steak, cooked exactly as I had asked for and perfectly seasoned and rested. The Ladies enjoyed a Salmon Dish and a Vegetable Curry, both of which were also of a superb standard. We followed these with fabulous home made desserts, which whilst small, were exceptionally good. As we were only Dining I cannot comment on the rooms, but I would loudly and heartily urge anyone who wants a memorable meal, served in warmly friendly and pleasant environment to beat a path to the Moorland and try it for yourself. Reasonably priced and gently elegant, we shall be going back, ..... and I suggest that you do the same.

Amazing food and the service was great as well, the barman/waiter couldn’t do enough to please. Lovely rooms, although should be told that the Jacuzzi is not working before arrival, but money was taken off. Would recommend especially for the food and would stay again.

I took a group of 27 Ladies to the Moorland, for lunch, on 22nd March 2024, and we all had a delicious lunch, everything was perfect.. I would highly recommend this Hotel’s beautifully presented food, and the desserts, were out of this world.. Drinks were also very reasonably priced, which does make a change, doesn’t it!!! The view from the hotel is stunning, right across the moors, incredible it is.. Sudeep and all of his staff, were so helpful and friendly.. They made us all so welcome as soon as we came in the door, lovely friendly atmosphere in the Moorland.. Highly recommend this venue..

We have just enjoyed a 2 day break at Moorland and couldnt be happier with our experience. We had a warm welcome and staff couldnt have been more helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the food is truly excellent. The location is perfect for access to Dartmoor and its walks, or an easy hope into Plymouth. Moorland Hotel is under new ownership since our last visit and we wish the new team well in continuing to provide a friendly and informal place to stay in a superb location. Thank you for a lovely stay-we will be back.

Been here now 3 times , such a great place ! All the staff are so welcoming and friendly, Food is always consistently of the highest. Quality., it’s always a great place to eat , as I only live 1hr away I like to come for just meals too, always left happy, I normally stay in pixie room as it’s just me. But stayed in room 24 this time, rooms are always very clean. Lots of t bags and milk ! And doesn’t matter which room your in, there is always a great views . Sort of place where yu feel at home but at same time your treated like thee favourite guest, it truly is a great place to stay. I can find fault in pretty much anything lol But I haven’t had a complaint ever staying or eating here ! And you can take that to the bank ! Highly recommend and one last thing prices are always good with rooms and meals Keep up the great work and I’ll be back ! Howard Lee 😀😀

We are fairly local and have spent many afternoons at this lovely place. Yesterday we went again, to enjoy the recently beautifully refurbished and re-decorated lounge and dining room areas. We find the staff (Phil - Duty Manager, Alicia - Waitress) exceedingly friendly and helpful. For our dinner, the chefs (Kevin, Ran, & Rami) went out of their way to accommodate our special dietary requirements. The food was superb and beautifully presented. It's a 10/10 from us, people!
