After an absence of more than two years after the Moorland Restaurant declined badly, we returned to try the Restaurant in the hands of the new owners, as I promised after stopping in for a drink two weeks earlier. We were warmly greeted and shown to the bar by the new "Boss" and had a quiet drink and a very pleasant chat with him over the small, and very nicely varied menu. Having suffered a very poor standard of steak under the previous owners, I teased him gently about the quality of the steak now served and he immediately rose to the challenge assuring me that he would personally ensure that I was pleased. He did not disappoint as I was served an extremely high quality Sirloin Steak, cooked exactly as I had asked for and perfectly seasoned and rested. The Ladies enjoyed a Salmon Dish and a Vegetable Curry, both of which were also of a superb standard. We followed these with fabulous home made desserts, which whilst small, were exceptionally good. As we were only Dining I cannot comment on the rooms, but I would loudly and heartily urge anyone who wants a memorable meal, served in warmly friendly and pleasant environment to beat a path to the Moorland and try it for yourself. Reasonably priced and gently elegant, we shall be going back, ..... and I suggest that you do the same.
