A cozy guesthouse. The staff was helpful and attentive. Cleaning was thorough, and the bed linens were changed regularly. Breakfast was timed individually, and the food was delicious and delivered quickly. The fresh fruit was fantastic. We also ordered dinner through the hotel and were very pleased. It was convenient not to have to look for somewhere to eat. The location is perfect. Quiet, peaceful, and the beach has a gentle sandy slope. We were very pleased and highly recommend this place!

A hotel for those seeking tranquility in a peaceful, open-air style. It's located outside the village, on the ocean shore. The beach here is rocky, no sand, and slippers are a must because of the sea urchins. The hotel offers excellent service, a couple of swimming pools, one with an ocean view, and a fascinating garden on the grounds. SUPs and bicycles are also available. There's an outdoor gym. The food is delicious. Lunch is mostly burgers and sandwiches. I'd like to see more seafood options for dinner. The rooms are simply stunning – spacious and cozy. Good Wi-Fi. Magnificent sunsets on a clear day! Near the hotel, there's an inexpensive sea turtle cave (maua cave), located right on the way to the hotel.

My stay at Samawa Living was absolutely phenomenal! From the moment I arrived, I felt an incredible sense of warmth and care from the staff. As a solo traveller, I was made to feel so safe and seen, which made the experience even more special. It truly felt like a home away from home. I’d like to give a special thanks to Kadogo, Hashimu, Baby, Asha, and the rest of the amazing team who went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. Their genuine kindness and attentive service stood out in every interaction. The location of the hotel was perfect – close to the iconic Paje Beach, with convenient access via buggy, so I could enjoy the beauty of the area while still retreating to the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the hotel. The boho vibes of Samawa Living were stunning, with every detail thoughtfully designed to create a cosy and serene environment. From the delicious meals to the immaculate rooms and tranquil ambience, everything about Samawa Living exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to return! If you’re looking for a safe, stylish, and welcoming place to stay in the Paje area, I highly recommend it.

A beautiful, well-maintained hotel. The staff are very friendly and constantly cleaning something. Beautiful plants and space design. The downsides, which ultimately didn't bother us at all, were the lack of a TV in the room. But on the bright side, our minds got to rest and we went to bed earlier. There's a TV in the common area where we all happily watched football with other guests. Plus, there's a fridge, which isn't available in all hotels. There's a power issue affecting the entire hotel, but it's more of an administrative/city problem rather than the hotel's fault. However, the hotel was quick to resolve it every time 👍🏼. The hotel is very quiet. There aren't many rooms, so there's little noise from guests. If you truly need a break from everything, this is the place for you. We like to stay in different locations for 3-4 days at a time. Here, we really caught up on our sleep. The hotel manager is a pleasant man; he'll approach you, greet you, ask if everything's alright, and solve any problems. We opted for breakfast, as we don't eat during the day and usually go out to town in the evening. Breakfast was standard: omelet, sausages, buns with jam, fruit, simple tea, coffee – perfectly sufficient for breakfast, nothing fancy, but you won't go hungry. We walked to town along the shore (safe ☝🏼👍🏼, 20 mins) because the car road was very dusty and noisy! Then we turned onto a path between hotels and came out onto the main road, walking along that. In town, you can buy coconuts for 2000 tzs, beer, find a currency exchange, and so on. The village is small and still developing, but if you ask locals, you'll find everything you need. The people are very responsive. You can have lunch or dinner with various cuisines at the food court. The hotel's all-inclusive supplement is $50 per person, which is expensive. We had dinner for two at a neighboring hotel for $25 (spaghetti and a Buddha bowl) ☝🏼. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel. Yes, there are low tides, but you just have to accept it and wait. But what a pleasure the beach and its beauty are in the second half of the day! Incredible! In the evening, the lighting is unique, and the beach becomes simply magical. In short, we were satisfied. Albergo immerso in un giardino bellissimo, struttura curata, pulita con uno staff incredibile, professionale, cortese, attento in ogni ambito. Cucina strepitosa con ricco buffet con ogni prelibatezza e di sera pesce fresco, che arriva direttamente dai pescatori. Una menzione particolare al Sig.Ali’ che coordina magnificamente tutto il personale e tratta personalmente tutti i clienti portando sempre un saluto ogni giorno e ai cuochi Sig.Hassan e brigata, tra i migliori mai trovati in un resort. Nous avons séjourné au Mandarin Resort Zanzibar et notre expérience a été assez mitigée. Le principal point positif de l’hôtel est sans aucun doute son personnel, qui est très gentil, accueillant et serviable. L’hôtel est également à taille humaine, situé loin des zones très touristiques, ce qui permet de profiter d’un environnement calme. Autre point appréciable : il y a toujours de la place autour de la piscine ou sur la plage, et on ne se sent jamais les uns sur les autres. Malheureusement, l’état général de l’hôtel laisse vraiment à désirer et mériterait une rénovation importante. Notre chambre était située près du groupe électrogène, ce qui provoquait énormément de bruit lors des coupures de courant, y compris pendant la nuit. La chambre elle-même était assez vétuste, en particulier la salle de bain, qui aurait vraiment besoin d’un gros rafraîchissement. Le même constat s’applique à la piscine. Elle est vieillissante et certaines réparations semblent avoir été faites assez rapidement, sans réelle finition. Pendant notre séjour, le niveau de l’eau a énormément baissé, au point de ne plus atteindre le système de filtration. L’eau est alors devenue trouble, avec beaucoup de petites saletés visibles, sans que cela ne semble particulièrement inquiéter l’équipe de l’hôtel. Nous avons également rencontré plusieurs problèmes concernant la propreté du linge. Chaque fois que nous avons demandé de nouveaux essuies, certains nous ont été apportés avec des taches. L’un d’entre eux était dans un état tel que nous avons dû demander immédiatement à le remplacer. Autre gros point négatif : la pression de l’eau dans la douche. Après environ 19h, il était presque impossible d’avoir une pression correcte. Nous sommes allés plusieurs fois à la réception pour signaler le problème, mais aucune solution n’a été trouvée. Nous avons donc dû nous doucher avec un simple filet d’eau à plusieurs reprises. Si vous avez les cheveux longs et devez les laver, cela devient franchement compliqué. Concernant le Wi-Fi, il fonctionne relativement correctement pendant la journée, mais devient extrêmement lent le soir, au point qu’il est parfois difficile de simplement consulter les réseaux sociaux. L’hôtel propose apparemment une connexion plus performante, mais celle-ci est payante, ce qui est assez décevant. Le buffet est globalement très bon et nous avons bien mangé. En revanche, si vous arrivez un peu plus tard, vers 21h par exemple, le choix devient nettement plus limité. Après une semaine sur place, les repas deviennent également assez répétitifs car la variété reste finalement assez restreinte. En résumé, le Mandarin Resort dispose de vrais atouts : un personnel adorable, beaucoup de calme, une ambiance à taille humaine et suffisamment d’espace autour de la piscine et de la plage. Malheureusement, ces points positifs ne compensent pas complètement les nombreux problèmes liés à l’entretien, aux équipements vieillissants et à certains services de base. Avec une vraie rénovation et davantage d’attention portée à l’entretien et au confort des chambres, l’hôtel pourrait être beaucoup plus agréable.

It’s a very nice hotel nice location. Food is great at the restaurant. The room is very clean but there was little hot water so we couldn’t fill the bathtub. The service needs to be enhanced, we arrived but no one there to take the luggage so I had to carry them. The cleaning lady came to our room an hour before the check out time and she put her cleaning stuff in our terrace. Jembe the pool boy was very friendly he showed us around the hotel and took some good photos for me and my wife.
