This well appointed cottage is a new build in the style of the original 1890s Four Square house sharing the property and is four blocks to the Town Square and Courthouse. The original house has been placed on the historic register and lays within the East Prescott Historic District. The bricks are the original chimney bricks from the fireplaces and wainscoting on the walls have the original paint. The hall light fixture is original to the house and the bathroom light fixtures are from a 1800 cattle ranch in Australia. The pictures are 1960’s original watercolors of the Prescott and Arizona landscape. The cottage suite has a private entrance, a small covered patio shared with a old wood-burning cookstoves, and a welcoming purple door. The raised deck, bbq and fire pit belong to the main house. The courthouse square is a short walk and a great place to enjoy the beautiful courthouse and tall elms trees. Maybe enjoy an ice cream or a drink from the Palace balcony. There are art and craft fairs, parades, car shows, the famous Fourth of July Rodeo which boasts the oldest rodeo in the USA. A famous Halloween where they close Mount Vernon Street and young and old come in costumes to trick-or-treat! Christmas tree lighting in the park square and a famous boot drop on New Year’s Eve. Great hiking and three lakes to choose from. The beautiful tall elms and many Victorian homes dating to the 1880s. Three close wineries, whiskey tasting, mead tasting and a variety of pubs. Located on one of the prettiest residential streets in the historic district, South Mount Vernon is just 5 blocks from the downtown square, quaint shops, restaurants, and attractions of historic downtown Prescott. You can enjoy walking past the gracious historic homes on the lovely tree-lined street to get there!Cedar Cottage, Aspen Cottage (VRBO #679470) and Birch Cottage (VRBO #679469) are on the same property and share the beautiful grassy back yard and flower lined patio. They work great for individual renting and could also be rented together for a family reunion, or friends all attending one of the many events Prescott has to offer. The Cedar cottage sleeps 2-6 people. Originally built in 1923, this cottage has been remodeled to include a sun porch, cathedral ceilings and many windows creating an abundance of natural light. The great room has a comfortable décor, sparkling clean new vinyl plank flooring, satellite flat-screen Direct TV, queen sofa bed, fully outfitted kitchen, dining table and bar stools with an overall feeling that is open and airy. The master bedroom has a queen bed, beautiful linens, night tables with reading lamps, ceiling fan, Direct TV, large closet and dresser. It also has an outside door to a little porch. In addition to the shared fenced yard, your dogs will love taking you just 2 blocks to Acker Park. Acker Park is 80 acres of natural parkland within the City of Prescott. Your 4-legged family members will particularly enjoy the one-mile loop trail.Being 5 blocks away from historic Courthouse Square, our location allows you to take sidewalks to all of the sites and sounds of downtown Prescott, Courthouse Square and Whiskey Row. However, once home, you’re back to small town peace and quiet. For outside peace and quiet, a 5-minute drive due south will put you in the Prescott National Forest complete with hiking, canoeing, fishing, fabulous vistas and cool pines! Prescott has an average of 275 days of sunshine per year and four mild seasons. The year-round activities have made it one of the top destinations in the Southwest. Prescott has been recognized as Arizona’s ‘official’ Christmas City so in December there are lots of fun things to do. You can be a part of the many people who stroll around the square to listen to the free, live, local music featured in every downtown shop for Acker night. A music festival like no other! Please do let me know if you need anything at all and I will do my best to provide it for you.The entire apartment suite with separate entrance, approximately 600 sq.ft. is for guest use and is completely private. There is a detailed physical manual in the suite with many suggestions for Prescott activities, restaurants, and attractions. Please take a look when you arrive.Prescott is known as "Everybody's Hometown", as well as "Arizona's Christmas City". Every season of the year has its charms and special activities here in our Mile High City. Our events begin with the Whiskey Row New Year's Eve "Boot Drop" and move on into the year with the many Arts and Crafts shows and summer concerts on "The Square" (Prescott Courthouse Square). Prescott's Frontier Days in July include "The World's Oldest Rodeo" and in October the streets are filled with goblins trick-or-treating the historic downtown neighborhoods, particularly on Mt. Vernon Street. The year comes to an end with the annual Christmas parade, Courthouse lighting, and Acker Night (music and cookies hosted by many businesses on and around"The Square"). Prescott has something for everyone to enjoy. Try some of our favorite restaurants or browse the shops on the square, rent a kayak and paddle around Goldwater Lake just a couple of miles from the chalet. Or just stay in and relax in this getaway from the world.
