That girl abroad
Bohol Tropics was honestly a big disappointment for the price I paid.
The exterior of the resort is beautiful, and the location is convenient, only about five minutes from Tagbilaran Port. I was able to walk to the resort, and the room itself was spacious.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The room was not properly maintained. The bathroom was the biggest issue. The shower head was rusted and moldy, the water pressure was extremely poor, and there were squashed bugs all over the bathroom walls and yes that is a drain fly in the picture. The shower also leaked through the glass door. There was visible mold and rust throughout the bathroom area, and the room had an unpleasant smell. It was also located near the restaurant, where singers performed until 11pm, which made it noisy at night.
Housekeeping only cleaned my room on the first day. On the second day, it was not serviced and the water was not replaced. When I complained at the front desk and showed photos of the bathroom issues, I was told it would be fixed, but nothing was done. At checkout, I asked to speak to a supervisor, but was told he was not on the premises and would only be available in the afternoon.
To make matters worse, dirty plates were left outside my room for two days and were never cleared, and they were not even mine.
The restaurant experience was equally disappointing. For a resort, I expected a much better breakfast. The buffet included rice, dried sardines, scrambled eggs, baked beans, pork, toast, jam, butter, juice, and coffee, 2 fruits anf cereal. It did not feel like the standard you would expect at this price point. In the evening, I waited 15 minutes to be seated while making eye contact with three waitresses, yet no one assisted me. I eventually walked away and came back, but still received no service.
Overall, this was one of the most disappointing stays I’ve had. The property has potential, but the cleanliness, service, and maintenance do not match the price being charged.
