More than 90% of Iriomote Island is tropical rainforest, and it's a bit similar to Malaysia, where I used to live. First, there was a night tour called Totoro Forest Tour. I participated in a tour trekking through the forest at night. I walked through the jungle and aimed for a limestone cave at night. As soon as I stepped into the forest with a light, I encountered a *****ed snake and a scorpion. The reason why Iriomote Island was registered as a World Heritage Site is because of the keyword "biodiversity." It's a truly wonderful island of nature, and the air is similar to the natural Malaysia where I used to live. When I turned off the light, the world was pitch black, and when I looked up, I could see the stars in the night sky and the Milky Way very clearly, so I tried to take a picture with my iPhone's night mode, but it didn't come close to the amazingness of the naked eye. As my eyes got used to the darkness, the stars became more visible, and the wonderful nature was like a planetarium. Looking around, I could see fireflies dancing wildly, which was fantastic. I explored a natural cave, and passed through a natural limestone cave with many night creatures and water up to my knees, which was a valuable experience. I was really soothed by nature. I can still hear the sounds of owls and insects around me, but on the contrary, that's all I can hear... Next is the Kula Falls tour. We canoe through the mangroves to the falls. We canoe through the largest mangrove forest in Japan, and the surrounding trees are completely different as the seawater gradually changes to freshwater. The surrounding trees give off fresh oxygen, so we enjoy the fresh air, scenery, and creatures as we go down the river and arrive at Kula Falls. Having a lunch box in front of a jungle waterfall is the best! If you take a little more time to join a tour of Iriomote Island, rather than a day trip, you can really appreciate the good points. The room was clean and comfortable. I stayed for two nights and was able to relax in a spacious room with a loft. It was a good deal with meals included. The meals were delicious!! Delicious fish dishes and beautiful rooms. Our tour guide was kind, interesting and friendly. It was absolutely fantastic! The voluminous meal not only filled our stomachs but also our hearts, leaving us in a good mood. During the night tour, we were introduced to each and every plant and animal, and we had a very enjoyable time. I don't have much experience fishing and didn't know how to do it, but they kindly taught me and I was able to catch a lot of fish. It was a wonderful memory! Thank you very much!!
