It was a very pleasant stay in this old monastery that was transformed into a hotel. There are only about 12 rooms and the Standard room is quite small but with a comfortable bed and very nice smell. The property has a stunning multi layered garden and a beautiful infinity pool woth views onto Tropea. Tropea is within walking distance from the hotel but about 12min away.
Everything was great but personally the breakfast was quite simple and selection is limited. I'm not a big breakfast eater but just wanted to highlight it as some people value a 5 star breakfast buffet.
Staff is very friendly and helpful and overall the property is very well kept in shape. Definitely the best address in this area.

Beautiful Hotel in need of Senior Management
The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very accommodating. But we felt that no adult supervision was present.
We were upgraded to a beautiful suite. While beautiful, the TV didn’t work, the remote needed batteries. I asked 3 times and eventually went and bought my own. AND the suite had a steam room which also didn’t work. And the air conditioning also was not good. We felt awkward asking the staff for help since there were very few of them and ALL were very young.
I don’t want to give this hotel a bad rating BUT senior management is sorely missing.

Wow, in a word. We stumbled across villa Paola in 2023 and just knew it was perfect for our wedding. We booked the hotel for exclusive use in April for our 24 guests. Although we had our wedding here ( I’d highly recommend) we also stayed prior and after the celebrations and I have to say Deborah and the team were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food is out of this world, fresh and traditional with a Villa Paola twist. Service and presentation along with wine recommendations are some of the best we have had the pleasure of experiencing. The rooms were cleaned daily and to a high standard, fresh water and mini bar replenishments daily along with complimentary robes and slippers. The gardens were beautifully manicured were necessary and it was also lovely to see the villa with some traditional rustic areas too. I would highly recommend a glass of wine as the sun sets over the town at golden hour! Location is something that needs to be considered as it is a short walk to the town (not well lit in the evenings) however the Villa were more than happy to arrange taxis for guests in our party that required them. Most were happy to walk off the exquisite selection of foods served throughout our stay! We will definitely return as frequent visitors to Tropea. Thank you for being a key part to our stress free wedding and stay.

We stayed at Villa Paola for our honeymoon, the entire experience was incredible. We cannot recommend you stay here enough. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Luis was the main concierge we worked with and he was able to accommodate all of our needs and wants. They booked us in for wonderful local dinners out, including all transport. As well as a local private boat tour. To say the food was the best is an understatement. Maria and Francesco have the most extensive wine knowledge and lead us through the Michelin tasting with full wine pairing. It was wonderful. Our nightly digestivo with Andres and Rocco were perfect every time.

The hotel is lovely, but for us not close to $800 per night. We see the going rate is around$400 with a special deal for a suite, while we have the worst room in the hotel with no view, no balcony, or any other notable feature. Perhaps our room is so bad because we used the chase/expedia portal. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting beforehand to avoid disappointment.

Great views of Tropea downtown perched on cilff, sea, port, and mountains along the coast line. Serene and large room reminiscing monastery residence. Friendly staff eager to give service. Have to drive to downtown for heartful dinner.

Great spot and staff. Fantastic views. 15 minute walk into town which is fantastic and very walkable. Again, beautiful views everywhere and lots of dining options. I highly recommend this property and staff.
