"I very much enjoyed my recent stay at this hotel, except for a couple issues that I mentioned to the team. The property itself is beautiful, with clean and quiet rooms, and a great location only about 15/20 minutes (walking) into town (although maybe not to walk at night given there aren't sidewalks or walking lanes). The food was fantastic - especially the breakfast with multiple options to choose from each morning. Thanks to Emma and Maria for always being so kind and welcoming. I appreciated the attention to my dietary needs as well. They were excellent. I loved the pool. At first, given that it wasn't very large I wasn't sure it would be so peaceful with other guests there as well. But, I luckily had it all to myself for a few hours on a couple days. Swimming and smelling the lovely flowers was just what I needed. The hotel also overlooks their farm or garden, and they use the produce in their kitchens. You can walk down from the hotel through it to get to the beaches. It's a bit strenuous to walk back up, so maybe see about a shuttle. I was concerned about a hygienic issue that occurred in the dining area one evening, which I expressed to the team, so hopefully it has been addressed. Thanks to Sara, Camilla, Catia, Deborah and Michela. There were a few instances where I wasn't sure if my questions or concerns were being disregarded, but I think it was more a matter of the language barrier. Couple things to note: -The private car transfer from the Lamezia Terme train station is 120 euros. -They do offer laundry services for a cost. -I had some trouble with receiving a response via email before I arrived. I had to ask their sister hotel to help with the connection. Then everything went smoothly. Overall, a lovely stay."

"We booked this hotel having never been to Tropea before and so glad we did. Matissimo was great on communication before we arrived and during. The staff were really excellent, friendly and happy to serve. The room we had was fantastic with a lovely view out to sea. We really enjoyed the garden which had palms and bananas growing in it with sun beds to lie in the dapple shade of it got too hot. Breakfast had everything from eggs toe cheeses and hams, plus of course the croissants and coffee. Location could not have been better as it is right on the beach front and if you wanted dinner in the town then a stroll up was very pleasant with great views. We are already planning another trip next year."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Tropea Blu Maison. It’s set in an original, rustic building full of charm, located right on a beautiful piazza overlooking the beach. The location is ideal — the piazza has plenty of great bars and restaurants just steps away. We highly recommend opting for the ocean view upgrade — it was absolutely worth it and made our mornings and evenings feel extra special. A special mention to Orlana, who made our breakfasts something to look forward to every day with her warmth and hospitality. Just be aware: this is a very basic accommodation, so don’t expect a 5-star experience — it’s all about character, not luxury. Also, travel light: you’ll need to carry your own luggage through the town and up a few flights of stairs. There’s no car access to the property. All in all, a great stay if you’re looking for charm, views, and location over creature comforts."

"This property is perfectly situated in the heart of the vibrant and enchanting town of Tropea. It is a small, family-run hotel with delightful hosts, Paolo and Rossella, who could not have been more friendly and helpful. They added so much to our enjoyment of the town and its surroundings and were always happy to offer advice and help. Our experience was definitely 10/10 ."

Tropea Luxury & Charm

"I wouldn’t even call it a hotel. It is in a residential building on the ground floor and is a number of flats knocked together. It reminds me of a youth hostel. The beds were cheap and soft. It had marks on the linen. It was bright and modern. It had no balcony to sit on. The view from the window is a derelict building site. They charge £147 a night. There is no pool. You get a tiny TV with nothing else to account for the price tag. We paid upfront for three nights and they refused to refund a penny. We left without staying a night and moved to a real hotel, with a pool and balcony and a sea view for less. We could not get out of there quick enough."

"The hotel is quite unique in terms of layout - the rooms are terraced on various levels in groups of twos or threes with paths amongst gardens and large terraces look overlooking the beautiful views of beaches. The room itself was very clean and breakfast was satisfactory. The staff was very helpful. However, we had to wait a good 15 minutes before someone came to the reception upon arrival. And the rooms need updating badly."

Villa Vittoria Tropea B&B

"Spent a week here. We had a room on the first floor with a walk up loft bed. The B&B is well located, near the main piazza and a short walk to all the restaurants and top of the stairs to the beaches. All we can say is that the staff were all marvellous. Friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. As with all period villas, there's some minor issues but where it counts, staff, breakfast, location this ticks all of the boxes. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and Interactions with lovely people. "
