Cherry blossom season in Vancouver is the most romantic poem of spring. Places like Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, and VanDusen Botanical Garden are perfect places to embrace the colors of the season.
Stanley Park
One of the first places in Vancouver to cultivate cherry blossoms, it is also one of the most famous urban parks in North America. There are many cherry blossom varieties here, including Tokyo cherry, American dawn cherry, and white cherry. Most of these flowers are found at the Rose Garden and Japanese Canadian Memorial deep inside the park. Take a stroll along the Seawall and be greeted by wonderful scenery with the cherry blossoms, snow-capped mountains, and blue sea coming together beautifully.
Queen Elizabeth Park
This horticultural treasure is located at the highest point of the city. The park has a cherry blossom tree called The Great One, which is the largest of its kind in Vancouver. Most of the cherry blossoms here are mid-blooming varieties, such as Somei Yoshino and American Akebono. Their flowering period typically runs from mid-March to April. At the vantage point of the park, you can enjoy the sight of cherry blossoms blooming all over the mountains, and get a magnificent view of downtown Vancouver.
VanDusen Botanical Garden
A paradise for plant lovers, the park is home to more than 100 cherry blossom trees, covering 24 varieties, which is almost half of the cherry blossom varieties found in Vancouver. Besides the rich variety, the cherry blossoms here also blend nicely with other plants in the garden to create natural landscapes of unique beauty. Take a stroll under the cherry blossom trees and see the romantic colors they add to the garden.
