Hiking in the Desert is an experience I'll never forget. It was as expected ridiculously hot, with almost no shade. The hiking itself is moderately difficult, you'll just need to make sure you carry enough water as there are no vendors until you reach the campsites. The kit lists you'll be advised to prepare for this kind of tour are completely excessive 🤣. You'll need a pair of hiking shoes, a hat and a load of sun cream (plus your regular travel bag). The guides in our case provided the poles and shoes covers. For the hike, we put all our bags into the tour bus, which met us later in the evening at the campsite. In the campsite they had large communal showers, a huge firepit, a 'restaurant' and a small shop to buy drinks, snacks and local alcoholic beverages. If you like desert jumping, starry skies, and skiing, then Xiangshawan is perfect for you. Xiangshawan Lotus Hotel Xiangshawan, Dalad Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia Lots of fun, like Disneyland in the desert. Entering Xiangshawan is a ritual, the hotel is in the heart of the desert, and you have to cross a seasonal valley in the middle and take a cable car. Xiangshawan has four main areas: the main hotel, Yuesha Island, Xiansha Island, and the ski resort. As long as you stay at the hotel, all meals and all desert activities are included, so the high room rate is actually quite cost-effective. From a bird's eye view, it looks like a lotus flower. The facilities are complete, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools. There are plenty of activities for children. There is a large sandy area in the hotel where children can dig in the sand. Indoors, you can play VR, PS, Nintendo, as well as pottery, sand painting, paper cutting, and other handicraft courses. For children aged 5–10, Xiangshawan offers free childcare services. In addition to evening parties, bonfires, and fireworks, there are also stargazing events.
