It got such a name because most of the local people wove and sold straw sandals from Qing Dynasty to 1949. You might not know these things about Dinghu Mountain. 1. Students from Guangdong can enter for free, but they need to show their student ID to the staff. (For Qixingyan, children under 12 years old are not free and need to buy a half-price ticket. It might be the same for Dinghu Mountain) 2. The wishing balls sold by the roadside cannot be thrown into the cauldron; staff will stop you. You must buy them at the cauldron, as those are the official ones. The ones bought outside have different colors and quality, and you can tell at a glance. It is said that the official ones are blessed and very effective. 3. There are no butterflies in Butterfly Valley. 4. The mountain opens at 8 am. Try to arrive early because it gets crowded later. 5. You must visit Qingyun Temple, which is said to be very efficacious. There are several places inside with many Buddha statues, which are spectacular and varied in form. (Remember, it's a Zhaoqing custom not to take photos of the Buddha statues indoors) 6. According to Guangdong customs, it's best to worship at the temple for three consecutive years. If you make a wish and it comes true, you should return to fulfill your vow. 7. The Buddha only helps with rightful causes, not with bad karma. Couples should try not to visit temples. 8. Getting There - Located at the center of Zhaoqing City opposite Paifang Square in downtown of Zhaoqing. Attractions - A must visit location in Zhaoqing; surrounded by the Star Lake which visitors may see the reflection of the lake glows up the Seven Star Crags. Taking a stroll around the entire (3 sq mi) enjoying the scenery is really comfortable with the soft breeze. As for me, I can totally pilot my drone around taking shots(beware of the trees and branches though). In the bustling city, our busy lives sweep us along like the tide. Seeking a place to release stress and get close to nature, I packed my camping gear and headed to Soul Camp. This camping trip exceeded all expectations, with cycling, water activities, and delicious food making every second both healing and fun. Setting Up Camp, Creating a Personal Haven Thanks to Soul Camp's spacious camping area, I easily found a spot with an excellent view to pitch my tent. Surrounded by greenery that acted like natural screens, my "little nest" was quickly set up. Experienced campers methodically arranged their sites nearby, while newcomers, though fumbling, were clearly enjoying themselves. Everyone helped each other, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere. Cycling Adventures, Embracing Natural Beauty After a short rest, I hopped on a bicycle and set off along the campsite's riding trails. A gentle breeze carried the fragrance of flowers and grass across my face. Lush trees lined both sides of the path, with sunlight filtering through the leaves creating patches of dappled shadows. During the ride, I encountered many beautiful scenes - distant mountains rolling against the horizon, complementing the blue sky and white clouds like a moving landscape painting. Splashing in the Stream, Enjoying Cool Moments When tired, I took the kids to the stream beside the campsite. The water was crystal clear, sparkling under the sunlight. I eagerly rolled up my pants and stepped in, feeling instant coolness spread from my feet throughout my body. The gentle stream flowed by as fish darted around my feet, occasionally nibbling at my toes, creating a peculiar tickling sensation. Children played nearby, catching crabs and skipping stones, their laughter echoing through the valley. Savoring Delicious Food, Comforting Body and Soul At mealtime, the aromatic scents wafting from the camp restaurant instantly stirred my appetite. Their signature dish is the sauna chicken - thinly sliced chicken steamed in bamboo baskets to preserve its natural flavors. The meat is tender and juicy, with an enticing aroma. Paired with special dipping sauce, it's absolutely delicious. Besides sauna chicken, the restaurant offers various home-style dishes made with fresh ingredients and simple cooking methods, providing satisfying and wholesome meals. Soul Camp offers an excellent retreat for camping enthusiasts who bring their own equipment. Here, you can enjoy not just camping, but also cycling, water activities, and delicious food - a complete relaxation experience for body and mind.
