The flight from Cairo landed safely in Abidjan midnight, around 3 AM. The Abidjan Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International is quite interesting and well layout. After getting off the plane, we had to collect our luggages and rechecking for the flight to Monrovia. Something funny happened, a security guard at the airport told us to wait in a separate place to get our baggages to us at 4 PM while our flight was 3PM. I was like damn! Something fishy is going to happen. I had a Liberian girl who I met in Egypt and she was very upset about the situation, likewise me. So, we decided to exit (since we have a west African ECOWAS passport that can enable us to travel in all west African countries without a visa) and get a place to rest. Fortunately, I could still remember some of the French I learnt way back. I spoke to the security and they allow us out, we took a taxi ( around 10000 CFA), got a lodging (around 15000 CFA) for only half day. Slept a bit and then ate the Acheke (in the photo above) for lunch and then called the driver for departure. After we reached at the airport, it was already 2 PM, so we checked in but the delay from the workers were tremendously slow and tiring. They were not even more attentive to what they were doing which caused us to lost approximately 1 hour 30 minutes with no progress. So, they shutdown that desk and told us to move to the other desk lmfao 😂🥹. Afraid of missing my flight, I started worrying and grieving. Finally, we checked in, I pay for at least 21kg overweight (with each costing 7.1$ ) 😭, passed through security check, after reaching to the boarding gate, the flight got delayed by another 2 hours. We later flew to Conakry to pickup passengers and then Liberia afterwards, we landed in Monrovia around 9 PM. The experience was both bitter and sweet with too much expenses. Next time I will board a flight with a one or two transit. PS: please know some survival French before traveling to Côte d’Ivoire, literally everywhere is French and people refused to even listen or speak English.
