Toul Ta Ek Adventure 🇰🇭✨
📅 Itinerary
It was only a 1 night trip to Toul Ta Ek/ Battambang. We traveled all the places we could in Day2 and drove back to Phnom Penh. Hope we could stay longer next time.
Day1: From Phnom Penh to Hotel *4.5-5 hrs drive*
Day2:
🦇 Bat Cave – I Missed the Show (I went there too early, better go there around 4-5 PM to see the bats)
🛕 Ek Phnom Pagoda – Peaceful Escape
🗻 Banan Temple – Stairway to... Maybe Halfway? 😂 (I only made it halfway up before my legs said, "Nope, we’re done here." 😂 If you’re traveling with elderly family or just not feeling a hardcore climb, not a recommended place)
And then went back into town a little desert and drove back to Phnom Penh.
🏨 Accommodation: Sky Palace Boutique, it is affordable only 16$/night. But you cannot expect too much from a 16$ hotel. It is not too bad or too good in the middle.
🍴 Food Recommendations: In my second and third photos. It was the best of my Toul Ta Ek/ Battambang trip.
📌 Tips
Chicken Rice Shop - I do not know the shop name. What we did
1️⃣ Sent telegram msg to the shop. Phone number in the green sign board of my photo. (But the owner replied after we left the place) 😝 So if you plan to ask location from telegram, send msg early. The shop open unttil noon or 2.00PM and crowded so they are busy to reply the message.
2️⃣ Use google translate English to Khmer and then type Chicken Rice and you will get Chicken Rice in Khmer. Copy and paste it to google/chrome. The first one from the list is this shop and you may see if it matches or not with the shop front photo of mine.

Quick Stop at Bat Cave, Battambang 🇰🇭🦇
We made a quick visit to the famous Bat Cave in Battambang but didn’t go all the way up the mountain. Since we only had one day to explore before heading back to Phnom Penh at 4 PM, we just took some photos around this amazing Buddha carvings.
If you really want to see the bats in action, the best time is around 5:00 PM when they start flying out of the cave. Even Google Maps shows that the Bat Cave officially opens around 4:00 PM. Sadly, we couldn't stay that long, but we still had a great time soaking in the view and snapping some nice shots.
Perfect spot for a quick stop and a peaceful vibe! ✨📸

Cambodia Visa on Arrival
#visahacks #cambodia #visa
Visitors from most countries can easily obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) when entering Cambodia via land borders or international airports. The process is simple, quick, and suitable for short-term tourism.
✅ Who Can Get a VOA?
* Most nationalities are eligible for a Tourist Visa on Arrival.
* This visa is available at:
* Major international airports (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville)
* Several land borders (Thailand, Laos, Vietnam)
💵 Visa Fee & Validity
* Cost: $35 USD (Tourist Visa – T Class)
* Validity: 30 days, single entry
* Extension: Can be extended once for an additional 30 days at the Immigration Office in Cambodia.
📋 Required Documents
1. Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of entry
2. 1 recent passport-sized photo
3. Two copies of the visa application form
* One is used for the visa sticker
* The other is kept by immigration for entry stamping
4. $35 USD in cash (bring exact change if possible)
5. Pen (highly recommended, especially if entering via land)
🚌 Tips for Land Border Crossings
* If you’re arriving by bus or overland, having your own pen and photo will make the process faster.
* Some land border officials may charge unofficial extra fees ($1–$3). These are technically not required, so it's okay to politely decline.
* Forms are simple, asking for basic personal and travel details.
✈️ Air Travel – Similar but Smoother
* VOA process is slightly faster and more standardized at airports.
* Application forms are usually handed out on the plane or available upon landing.
✍️ Visa Process – Step by Step
1. Fill out two copies of the visa application form.
2. Attach your passport photo.
3. Submit the forms, passport, and $35 USD at the visa counter.
4. Receive your visa sticker (usually within 10–15 minutes).
5. Proceed to immigration with your passport and the second form for the entry stamp.
6. Immigration officer will retain one form and stamp your passport.
🔁 Visa Extension Info
* You can extend the Tourist Visa once (for another 30 days).
* Extensions must be done through the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh or through travel agents in major cities.
* Overstaying your visa may result in a $10/day penalty.
📌 Final Tips
* Bring exact USD in cash — no cards or other currencies are accepted at the visa counter.
* Keep the entry form and visa page safe — you’ll need them when exiting.
* For long-term stays or multiple entries, consider applying for an e-Visa or business visa in advance

Should we visit Battambang?
Yes, Battambang in Cambodia is definitely worth visiting. Although often overlooked, Battambang is an interesting addition to your Cambodia itinerary if you have a few weeks to spend in the country.
Battambang can be seen in as little as one day, but I personally felt like half of the charm was also exploring outside of the city. For that reason, I'd recommend two full days in Battambang. One to hang around the city and one to explore the outskirts.

experience in Somlot district, Battambong
#fallingforfall The nice view with mountain range in Battambong called Bor Lan. After almost ending the rainy season, the weather start to dry and the wind falling down coldly in this period. I have explored to one resort in Somlot district which has the boundary with Trat province, Thailand.
In here, the rainy season seems to be end prematurely that why the trees start falling the leaf as the weather become dry than normally.
We claimed to the hill of the mountain to take pictures and see the perfect landscape ever.
Great memories and good atmosphere in the natural resort.

Battambang
Battambang is a very small city in Cambodia, there are not many Chinese people coming here to travel, even less pitiful, there are many special activities in such a city, such as kissing a crocodile Hey.
The travel here is basically a tutu car, settled by the number of days, it will take you to the city's elite travel attractions, which will accommodate the farm.
As soon as I arrived at the farm, the hostess asked if I had been here and said that I was like a Hong Kong person she had seen before. The fact is definitely not. There is a basin at the door, there are several crocodile babies in the basin, very cute. You can even kiss it, but the little crocodile is still very big.
And moving forward is the crocodile pool, which is full of adult crocodiles and some crocodile statues with fakes. If you accidentally fall down, you will be tragedy.

It is alre
It is already afternoon time to pass through the towns along the way. Inadvertently entering a temple along the street, the teenagers studying in the temple school, curious and enthusiastic, vying for photos, and then swarming forward to watch their own images. This situation is the most common sight in Cambodia.
For this group of teenagers, happiness is as simple as that. Don't need too much speech expression, one action can attract other companions to laugh

Discovering Battambang – Cambodia’s Laid-Back Cultural Gem
#postandearn
Often overlooked in favor of Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, Battambang is a charming riverside city that offers a more authentic glimpse of local Cambodian life. Known for its French colonial architecture, creative arts scene and lush countryside, it’s the perfect destination for travelers who love culture, history and relaxed exploration.
Start your day with a ride on the famous Bamboo Train (Norry) — a quirky, open-air platform that zips through rice fields and villages. Wander around the Old Colonial Quarter, where pastel-colored French buildings meet local cafés and art galleries.
Just outside the city, explore Wat Banan Temple, often called the “mini Angkor Wat,” and climb to the hilltop Wat Phnom Sampeau to watch the incredible bat cave spectacle at sunset, as thousands of bats stream out into the sky. The nearby Killing Caves of Phnom Sampeau offer a moving reminder of the region’s tragic Khmer Rouge history.
Whether you cycle through serene countryside paths, discover Battambang’s growing street-art scene, or feast on Khmer dishes at local markets, this laid-back city delivers a perfect mix of culture, history, and rural beauty.

Fresh and relaxed
The Gecko Battambang, a cafe by the river side with a calm and relaxing environment where we can drink coffee or other drinks with a cosy working environment. It is located at the outskirts of Battambang city and it is not fare from Banon Temple. You can also enjoy the river view from the top of the building or you working close the river bank where you can take the beautiful photos 🥰🥰

Exploring Battambang
#springitinerary Battambang is one of those towns that doesn’t make a big fuss but ends up stealing your heart. It’s got this laid-back charm, with cute colonial buildings, riverside cafes, and locals who are always down for a friendly chat. The bamboo train ride is a must, it’s bumpy, random, and ridiculously fun. And the countryside? Absolute gold. You can bike through rice fields, check out hidden temples, and catch an epic sunset at Phnom Sampeau (bonus: millions of bats flying out of a cave—wild).
It’s also a bit of an artsy hub, with cool galleries and a creative vibe that feels super authentic. Not as flashy as Siem Reap or Phnom Penh, but way more chill and personal. Perfect if you’re into slow travel, meeting locals, and discovering little gems around every corner. Battambang keeps it real, and that’s what makes it awesome.

Bamboo Train Battambang
This attraction really feels like riding in a time machine!
The bamboo train is actually a simple bamboo board with a motor and wheels. After sitting on it, it will run along the narrow and old railway tracks. The wind blows over you, and there are tranquil rice fields and palm trees on both sides. The whole scene is very primitive and relaxing.
Tonle Sap Lake
At sunset, the entire lake was sparkling with golden light and stretched as far as the eye could see. At that moment, I really calmed down and just wanted to watch the sky and water merge into one.
