2025 Beitou District Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in March)

#chinatrip We spent half a day exploring Beitou district while travelling to Taipei and this is such a quiet and serene destination to visit! It is just a 30minutes train ride from Taipei Main Station via red line, which is an easily accessible and reachable destination. We then took another train ride to Xinbeitou station which is nearer to all of the touristy spots. Famous for its natural wonder of hot springs, the Beitou district is full of hot springs resorts, public baths and even museum dedicated for hot springs culture, such a unique place to visit. Would recommend to spend a night at their hot spring resort, especially during winter. Some of the popular destination that we visit include the Beitou Park, Beitou hot spring museum, Thermal Valley and the beautiful Beitou library. The district is filled with lush greeneries and is really calm and slow paced! Lovely place to visit!

Aloft Taipei Beitou was originally part of the Starwood Hotels group. After the Marriott Group merged with Starwood in 2018, it was all included in the Marriott group, and Marriott naturally became the largest hotel group on the planet! I've always wanted to let my kids experience farm life, and this time I found an egg-collecting activity that seemed super interesting, so we signed up! Finally, we arrived at Suyejia. The environment here was much cleaner than I expected—no bad smells or chicken droppings everywhere, making it very comfortable. The instructor shared many stories about hens during the class, making me realize how tough and pitiful their lives can be. We also learned how to pick fresh eggs, which was quite an eye-opener. After the class, the kids got to mix chicken feed and then prepared to feed the chickens. It was a bit chaotic as a flock of chickens rushed over, and the kids were a bit flustered, but luckily my two were quite calm. After feeding the chickens, we started collecting eggs. Each child could collect two eggs from the henhouse and then return to the classroom to clean the eggshells, completing a super fun experience! The air is thick with the scent of wet earth and the occasional whiff of sulfur from the hot springs. My pace is unhurried, allowing my thoughts to drift like the mist swirling around my legs. The muted colors of the landscape, punctuated by the surprising vibrancy of an occasional red maple leaf, evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing. The quiet whispers of rain and distant murmur of the thermal springs remind me of the hushed tones of "Spirited Away," where the ordinary can suddenly become extraordinary. The rustic bathhouses, with their wooden facades and warm interiors, beckon me like the baths in the film, offering solace and reflection. As I step into one, the warmth envelops me, a contrast to the chill outside, and I am momentarily a guest in another world, much like Chihiro in her journey. Walking through Beitou’s library, its architecture blending seamlessly with the surrounding nature, I feel a sense of peace. The large windows frame the rain-soaked gardens, creating a moving painting of droplets racing down panes, much like the scenes of transformation and revelation in the animated film. Each turn and corner in Beitou seems to hold a story, a secret waiting to be uncovered. As I leave, the rain intensifies, washing away footprints and softening the lines between now and the past. This place reminds me of the onsen town at Noboribetsu ( Hokkaido), this place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It’s a very big natural hot spring Valley that you can walk around, it’s wheelchair and elderly-friendly, beast place to bring your family here! I'm sure the kids will love this too. This place is so steamy, I can barely see my friends when we first walked in to this place, feels like we are back in Japan again! Never imagined Taiwan can have such nice and beautiful place. There is a small walking trial here as well, a few observation decks, and even seats for you to chill if you just want to sit down and enjoy the beautiful views. We spent about 30 minutes here, I love this place so much that I could just sit there and enjoy the view. There is also a small gift shop at the exit if you would like to purchase some small gifts. There is a small store outside the Thermal Valley that sells amazing onsen eggs, I had Chinese wine and chili onsen eggs, both are delicious. But I prefer the chili onsen egg more, I would highly recommend getting the egg to end this trip.

Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival. I took a walk alone in New Beitou Park. For dinner, I went to the nearby (Shuang Yue) and had my favorite (Clam Chicken Soup) and Spicy Dry Noodles. Then I bought a bottle of Grass Jelly Drink and offered it to a couple next to me. A kind boy heard me coughing and immediately brought me a tissue. Such a considerate and lovely boy! Delicious food and new friends made for a truly happy and joyful dinner.
