[Mount Hood, Oregon, USA + Trillium Lake] ✅Transportation: A 1-hour drive from downtown Portland directly to the lake. ✅Key spots: Trillium Lake (classic Mount Hood reflection photo spot), lakeside forest trails. ✅Best time: The perfect snow-capped mountain reflection is easiest to capture on a windless morning. The lake water is azure in summer. ⚠️The two locations are far apart and are suitable for two separate trips. It is not recommended to combine them into one itinerary. 🌿Travel experience Øye town in Norway has few tourists, is quiet and pristine, with open valley views and mirror-like alpine lakes everywhere. The temperature is low, so bring a light jacket even in mid-summer. Trillium Lake is a popular photo spot, with many photographers in the early morning and crowds dispersing during the day. A windless morning is the golden hour for capturing reflections; the lake surface can become disturbed by wind in the afternoon. Both forest areas have many mosquitoes and other insects, so be sure to bring repellent. Mobile signal is weak in some mountainous areas, so download offline maps in advance. 🍴Dining details Øye town, Norway 1. Øye Hotel century-old restaurant: Local traditional Norwegian lamb dishes, freshwater fish. The restaurant's panoramic windows face the mountains. 2. Small town grocery cafe: Cinnamon rolls, handmade hot chocolate, suitable for a mid-trip break. There are very few shops in the town, so try to confirm dinner operating hours in advance. Mount Hood area, Oregon 1. Lakeside cabin cafe: Burgers, handmade soups. 2. Government Camp town Western restaurant: Local craft beer, wild mushroom dishes. Supply recommendation: Purchase snacks and bottled water in Portland before departing, as there are no large stores by the lake. 🥾Outdoor activities Norwegian valley area 1. In early July, I took a three-day loop in Oregon, from Portland to Bend. Along the way, there were so many surprises: snow-capped mountains, forests, streams, waterfalls, and desert (High Desert). This article mainly introduces the snow mountain-related attractions. All the attractions mentioned here require just over 1 hour of pure driving time (blue route on p18). p1-2 white river west sno-park In summer, there are streams formed by snowmelt from the mountain; in winter, it’s covered in snow. It’s not a well-known spot, but many RVs and elegant older couples come here with small stools to drink tea and chat. p3-5 Parkdale RFPD - Mt Hood Station The first two photos are taken on the slope opposite the fire station, and the last one is on the road a bit further south of the fire station. p6-11 Hood River Lavender Farm Lavender farm + wine tasting. The farm offers lavender ice cream full of ice crystals. You can pick lavender yourself. The souvenir shop sells lavender-related items like essential oils, sprays, and tea. The wine tasting area doesn’t have much food, only cold cuts and cheese platters, but the strawberries on the platter are surprisingly delicious. Facing north, you can see Mt Adams in Washington state; facing south, you can see Mt Hood. p12 Hope Ranch Lavender Another lavender farm with fewer visitors. There are white chairs perfect for photos (unlike the colorful chairs at Hood River Lavender Farm, which don’t inspire photo-taking). You can see both Mt Adams and Mt Hood here. You can also pick lavender yourself, and the souvenir shop is similar. p13 Panorama Point A parking lot next to a private residence, located at a higher elevation with no obstructions. You can enjoy a distant view of Mt Hood. Nearby are some private farms and orchards. p14-17 Timberline Lodge This hotel was a filming location for The Shining, located halfway up Mt Hood. In summer, you can start hiking to the snow line from here. The trail is steep, so hiking poles are recommended. p18 Overall route map in the photo. Starting from Portland, it takes 1 hour to reach point A, Panorama Point, at the northernmost side. After completing the blue route, heading west for about 1 hour 20 minutes will bring you back to Portland. Driving south for over 2 hours will get you to the towns of Sisters/Bend. 📷: sony a7r5

As the title says! Choosing the right season to visit Portland is really, really, really important! This time we caught the start of summer, and the weather was just perfect! The temperature was just right, the sun was shining brightly, and it didn’t rain for four days straight. Plus, it only got dark around 9 PM every day—perfect for going out and exploring! Day 1: Left work at 4 PM and headed straight to Cannon Beach (photos 3 & 4). The giant rocks were absolutely stunning—way bigger in person than in photos. This spot was the most breathtaking place on this trip. The drive to Cannon Beach was beautiful too, with dappled sunlight through the trees. We got to the beach just after 6 PM and first went to Pelican Brewing Company for dinner. We waited about 15 minutes in line, and the food was really good! Highly recommend the oysters as an appetizer—super plump and fresh, they blew my mind! After dinner, we drove near the giant rocks. Parking was tricky, so we found a small alley off the street and parked there. The wind by the sea was so strong, I almost froze my head off. If you go, definitely check the weather and bring a thicker jacket. The seaside sunset is much colder than downtown. Day 2: Waterfall day In the morning, we went to Vista House at Crown Point, which is a quick stop for photos (photo 7). Then we hiked Latourell Falls for about an hour. This trail is highly recommended! It has shade and a stream, so you won’t be exposed to the sun, and the length is just right—very comfortable. However, the waterfalls here are relatively small, so if you’re only interested in waterfalls, you might skip this one. In the afternoon, we visited Multnomah Falls (photo 5), the iconic tall waterfall with the bridge. There’s a trail to climb to the top of the falls. Sitting by the water under the tree shade was very relaxing, but since we already hiked a trail in the morning and it was very sunny and uphill in the afternoon, I was exhausted and questioning my life choices. If you go in the afternoon, make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen and water!!! Day 3: Forest and snow mountain We left at noon for Jonsrud Viewpoint, another quick photo stop. When it’s not too hot, you can buy lunch and eat there. The views of the forest and snow-capped mountains are amazing (photo 8). Then we went to Timberline Lodge (photo 2). It’s amazing that you can still ski at the end of May! Although we didn’t ski, it felt so lucky to touch snow in summer. Trillium Lake was the highlight and my favorite spot of the trip (photo 1)—a must-visit! We rented a kayak for an hour and drifted on the lake, surrounded by forest and snow mountains. The world and my mind felt incredibly peaceful. I even thought about moving to Portland to buy a kayak and paddle on the lake every weekend.

#springblossom This was a cute and fun experience. Did not expect a fair style day arriving here. There were a few stands with food and beer (or wine, they have wine for the wine lovers, too). I loved the variety in Tulips and how happy they all looked! Very well taken care of flowers and oh so vibrant. It's definitely worth a visit, considering Tulips only bloom once a year, and that's it! Why not come and enjoy something like this just one day out of the year? Just make sure to visit the site and be sure of if they've bloomed yet or if it's too late.

They have been in Happy Valley for many years. Although the staff are not Thai, they are very friendly. They have a wide selection of dishes, including the usual Tom Yum Goong, Hainanese Chicken and skewers. The menu is densely written and divided into two pages, making it difficult to make a choice. But no matter what, I must order Pad Thai with Shrimp, cheese wontons and Tom sum soup. The Pad Thai has plenty of ingredients and golden vermicelli, but unfortunately the taste is a bit sweet. The shrimp meat is very sweet and chewy. Their crispy spicy fish is also worth a try. The fish meat is fried crispy and delicious, and paired with the slightly spicy, rich and sweet Chu Chi Sauce, it goes great with rice!
