Bruton: A British village more fashionable than London
The first thing I did after landing was head straight to Bruton, a chic country house in Somerset. This episode features my favorite British beauty.
🏠About Accommodation
-Newt (A club hotel near Bruton, perfect for any budget)
-Dursale Farmhouse (This is a great option for a large group! 5 bedrooms, also with H&W)
-Caro Space (This time, I stayed in a double-decker cabin at the home of designer boutique owner Natalie. I loved the little details and the skylight.)
-At the Chapel (A beautiful boutique. Caro also offers breakfast here, in a converted church. Even if you're not staying here, you must come for breakfast! The muffins are amazing!)
🐎About Shopping
-Hauser & Wirth Somerset (I actually went there for the gardens of landscape architect Piet Oudolf, but I was surprised to love the exhibitions in their gallery. From the curatorial logic to the art selection, they're quite interesting and a little off-beat.)
-Make by H&W (An attached gallery on the high street, featuring sculptures and handmade art. Don't miss it. However, the opening hours are quite limited, so be aware.)
-Arusha Gallery (also a beautifully appointed gallery with a spires, currently showing Paige Perkins! What a pleasant surprise!)
-Bureau Bruton (vintage boutique with London-quality selection)
-eighteen-twenty (lots of adorable vintage shops, make sure to book an appointment!!)
-New Romantic (a lifestyle boutique with a lot of British brands)
🤤About food
-Osip (I heard it was ranked number one in the UK last year? It's one star. After eating there, I felt light and comfortable. Well worth the visit! And the egg tart dessert was amazing!)
-Roth (an H&W annex restaurant, divided into the Orangery and the interior. I prefer the exterior; their steaks are fantastic!)
-old pharmacy (80 points for food, but the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful)
In short, this village of trendy people feels like they're constantly surrounded by Philo-philosophers.
