Chong Ta U Market, Thai-Lao border market
#Get a discount without relying on luck “Chong Ta Ou” is a temporary border trade relaxation point between Thai and Lao people. It is a point for exchanging consumer goods such as daily necessities, handicrafts, agricultural and forest products. Open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Located in Ban Nong Saeng-Charoen Phatthana, Phon Ngam Sub-district, about 14 kilometers from Buntharik District. The service rate for bringing a vehicle into the area is 60 baht/vehicle for a 4-wheel car. The service rate for individuals (Thais: children 20 baht, adults 30 baht). Once crossing the border, there will be motorcycles with sidecars. The service fee is 20 baht/person (if you go with a group of people, try to bargain). If you don’t want to spend money, you can walk. The distance is not far. It’s like taking a walk through the forest and then turning into a market. There are many products in the market. If you ask about the prices, they are similar to Thai markets. In fact, Thailand’s is cheaper and better (this depends on the person/day. This is just my personal opinion from my experience). As for wild animals that Laos brings to sell, they can be eaten there. You can hire vendors to make it for you or bring your own equipment, as you prefer. However, you cannot bring it back to Thailand (rental of seats and kitchen equipment costs 200-300 baht per set). Consider it an experience, it's not bad, just need to look carefully before deciding to buy anything.
