Walking around, you can observe the old architecture that blends Mamluk and medieval Egyptian styles, giving the site an effortlessly sacred and historic charm.

Taking a taxi in traffic can be excruciating, but the metro is easy, fast, and incredibly cheap. Signs are available in both Arabic and English, making it easy for foreigners like us to navigate. The larger stations also appear modern, especially the newer Line 3, which is completely new, has air conditioning, and is less crowded than the older lines. The downside, however, is that during rush hour, it's incredibly crowded, so crowded that you don't even need to walk; a human guides you. Some older stations can look rundown and aren't as clean as some metros in other countries. Furthermore, there are airport-like baggage check-ins, which can sometimes lead to small queues. Another favorite is the women-only booths, which makes it more convenient for solo travelers. The fares are excellent, tens of times cheaper than taxis, making it a popular choice among locals. Overall, the Cairo Metro is ideal for those looking for fast, affordable travel and avoiding being stuck in the middle of a busy street. It's recommended to avoid the morning and evening commutes.
