There are direct trains to La Spezia from Florence, Pisa, or Milan. The best way to travel between villages: Cinque Terre Express. The five villages are very close together, with trains taking only 2-5 minutes to reach the next station, and services are very frequent. A money-saving card: We highly recommend purchasing the "Cinque Terre Card" at La Spezia station. With this card, you can ride all trains between La Spezia and Levanto for unlimited free rides on the same day, use the village shuttle buses for free, and enter hiking trails for free – a great deal! A romantic sea view: Ferry. If you want to admire the cliffside villages from the sea, you can choose to take a ferry between the villages between April and November (except for Corniglia, as it is not on the coast), experiencing the breathtaking beauty of Cinque Terre from another perspective. 💡 Travel Tips: With limited time on a day trip, we recommend focusing on 3-4 villages for in-depth exploration (Vernazza and Manarola are highly recommended). Levanto is one of my favourite places in Italy, not only is it beautiful and only minutes away from the Cinque Terre but it’s also more affordable than other nearby spots. I stayed a week here and everything is close to the old town - plenty of gorgeous cafes and eateries, a stunning beach, bike trails that offer a traffic free route through tunnels to Bonossola and only a 5 min train ride to the first of the 5 Cinque Terre Villages. I think it was better because there were fewer tourists than the other towns. You can get to the five towns by train or by trekking.
