During my recent trip to this area, I was fortunate enough to stay at the Lost Villa, a stunning boutique hotel that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Zhongwei. One of the highlights of my trip was the desert safari adventure, which took us deep into the mesmerizing sand dunes of the Tengger Desert. Riding a camel, I felt like a true explorer, and the views of the vast landscape were breathtaking. The hotel arranged the tour for us, which was a seamless experience. Back at the Lost Villa, I was impressed by the beautiful architecture and attention to detail. The hotel blends traditional Chinese elements with modern design to create a unique and welcoming atmosphere. The food at the hotel was also exceptional, with a range of local and international dishes that were expertly prepared. One of the best things about staying at the Lost Villa was the proximity to the historic city center of Zhongwei. We visited the ancient Ming dynasty city wall and the local market, where we experienced the vibrant local culture and sampled some of the delicious street food. In the desert of Zhongwei, there is a unique static train hotel that is definitely worth staying for a few nights. The train has very cosy rooms and has wonderful views of the desert of Zhongwei in Ningxia province. In the desert you can play in the sand dunes or drive a 4x4 over the desert sand for much fun. Jinshahai Desert Theme Train Hotel is a great place to stay in Zhongwei. To move around this place and the area I recommend hiring a driver. You will be grateful especially for the air conditioning. You can perfectly plan to stay one or two nights of your holidays in this place to enjoy all the landmarks and activities. The hotel offers impeccable facilities and you can choose whether to stay in the train hotel in a wagon or stay in a tent in the middle of the dessert. Both options were amazing so we stayed in both LOL. The tents are very spacious and clean. The staff are friendly and offers a great service. Breakfast is included and not bad for the average price of the hotel. This is a nice hotel with a good taste. Located in Zhongwei. The English name of this hotel is Lost Villa”. It is very close to two landmarks of the city: the Great Wall and yellow river. Zhongwei is a prefecture-level city of Ningxia province. The city is known for its wolfberry and Gobi watermelon cultivation. It is a desert 🏜 area with lots of sand dunes as you can see in the pictures. The hotel we stayed was a tend in the middle of the dessert but also there is a train which was converted in hotel rooms. this place is One of the world's largest photovoltaic power station, Tengger Desert Solar Park, is located in Zhongwei as well. you can also visit Sunflower 🌻 plantations and enjoy the landscape with lots of hills. Get to Zhongwei, Ningxia province China it is accessible by high- speed rail from Yinchuan or by air. The Air transport can be limited to some cities, Then find a taxi to Shapotou desert this takes up to 30 minutes. They is a desert and a whole lot of fun like riding the quad bike in the sand dunes. You can also take a ride on the back of a camel as you retrace the ancient Silk Road. Enjoy the desert accommodation by trying out the awesome tents in which you can book easily. The tents are very nice and comfortable and are suitable for couple as well as families Food & Restaurants - the cuisine in here is that of Northern China which has good delicious lamb. Shopping - it’s not an ideal place for shopping 😅

Getting There - take a bus from the train station and drop off anywhere in town. get a taxi to take you to the place .we used a taxi because its a bit out of zhongwei . when you get to the place they help you to get to the activity site with their own cars it was a pretty amazing ride ,the cars are so big and they thrill you up with speed in the desert . Took a trip out of the city to see China's northwest! Great way to spend the New Year holiday. Recommendations: 1. Desert Star Hotel (沙漠星星) it's about two hours from Yinchuan airport by high-speed rail and then taxi. Great sunrise views over the sand dunes! 2. Xipo Hostel in Shapotou. It has a very old west Americana vibe with an awesome little community. Also you can see parts of the old Great Wall 3. Route 66 … a 1km stretch of road that is very "instagrammable". Really only for the pictures, you can skip if it's not your thing. #newyearstrip #ningxia
