A Classic Example of Valencian Baroque Architecture

Mediterranean Coast Tour of Spain ~ Castellón (Region) The church, built in the 18th century, is a classic example of Valencian Baroque architecture. The structure features three naves with transepts, the main nave covered by a semi-circular barrel vault, and domes with skylights on both sides. The transepts are covered by a barrel vault, and the presbytery area has a hanging dome. The interior facade is connected by Corinthian pilasters and wide cornices running throughout the temple. The naves are separated by semicircular arches, with the central arch being higher. From the outside, the majestic appearance boasts a mixed linear profile, topped with rose windows and pyramids, making it quite striking. In 1981, the church and bell tower began the process of being declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument. If we are in the area, visiting this church is one of the must-do activities. Additionally, we can climb the adjacent tower, from which we can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding area. The observation deck, which is free to climb, has 213 steps.
