📍 A cafe with authentic Japanese vibes and absolutely zero Korean tourists. When I visited the small Japanese city of Kumamoto recently, I got around in a rental car. When searching on Naver or Instagram, I find that places crowded with Korean tourists sometimes lack that authentic vibe... So this time, I wanted to do it right. I handpicked this spot myself by going through Yahoo Japan and Google Maps reviews one by one. · — On the way down from Mount Aso to downtown Kumamoto, there's a place called 'Sanno Village'. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with stretching rice fields, there's a small, charming little cafe. As soon as I walked in, I immediately thought, "Ah, I made the right choice." It totally gives off that exact vibe 🥺 · — The owner and his wife were incredibly warm. When I mentioned I was Korean, they kindly explained each item on the menu and gave me some great recommendations. When I spoke to them in Japanese, they even complimented my language skills, haha. The wife mentioned she loves K-dramas and kept flashing the brightest smiles. The whole atmosphere was just so heartwarming ☕️ · — And let me tell you... 🍵 You absolutely have to try their matcha latte. It was the best I’ve ever had. It’s smooth and sweet, but leaves just the perfect hint of bitterness at the end... It tastes incredibly premium. · — If you're planning a road trip around the Aso area, skip the crowded tourist traps.
