You need to wear long pants or a long skirt to enter the Grand Palace. I didn't do my research and wore shorts, so I spent 200 baht to buy pants. Wat Phra Kaeo can be explored freely, but the palace itself cannot be entered; you can only view it from the outside. Pics 12-13: Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen. Next to it are all residential buildings and small alleys. To get the best spot to photograph the complete Big Buddha, you still need to check guides, otherwise, it's easy to get lost.
