📝 A 6-day, 5-night adventure that, while not too long, was enough to experience challenges and ultimately savor the triumph of overcoming them together. ✔️ A 7-hour flight connecting Hanoi - Bali - Surabaya. ✔️ Witnessing the sunrise at the fairytale village of Semeru, hidden beneath a mystical veil of mist, and observing the active Semeru volcano. ✔️ Trekking through forests, climbing hills, crossing streams, and navigating treacherous paths to marvel at the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall with its thousands of cascading streams. ✔️ A 2 AM march to trek to the acidic Kawah Ijen Lake. Experiencing volcanic rock trekking in the pitch dark, surrounded by toxic gases. (Two words: DISASTER) ✔️ Another 2 AM start, riding a specialized Jeep to officially conquer the bubbling crater of Mount Bromo, ready to erupt at any moment. Scaling hills, crossing waterfalls, climbing rocks... and what could be more thrilling than riding a colorful Jeep across the black desert formed by volcanic ash from Mount Bromo? Witnessing the stark contrast between the pitch-black ash and the vibrant green vegetation sprouting up in search of sunlight. It truly showcases the destructive power of nature when it awakens and the resilience of life, which always finds a way to thrive even in the harshest conditions. Jawa Timur has long sparked my curiosity and desire to explore this destination. I am deeply grateful to the companions who joined me on this journey. Despite the extensive travel, early mornings, challenging trekking paths, and toxic air, everyone brought positive energy and supported each other in every situation. Never before have I laughed so much with a group of strangers on a trip. As the journey ends, there’s joy, fatigue, and a touch of regret. This will be an unforgettable memory.
