Peng Town is also known as Pengjiachang and formerly known as Yongfengchang. It was first built during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. Later, because Peng Duanshu moved here, it was renamed Pengjiachang. In the old days, there were more than 20 classic buildings including six temples, five museums, two bridges, two towers, one pavilion, and one platform. The current old streets include Yongfeng Street, Mashiba Street, Xinjie, Chunbo Road, Jishi Street, and Yuying Street. It is named after the Guanyin Pavilion in the middle of the street. It is unknown when Guanyin Pavilion was first built. According to legend, more than a hundred years ago, a fire broke out in Peng Town and the entire town was almost reduced to ashes. Only this house survived. Later, local residents named this place Guanyin Pavilion, meaning that the place where Guanyin Bodhisattva stepped can keep people away from disasters. In the early years of the Republic of China, Guanyin Pavilion was used as a tea shop and it is still in use today. It has now been developed into an ancient town.
