Century-old Goose Neck Park, the backyard of Chongqing residents

Goose Neck Park can be said to be the backyard of Chongqing residents, where they leisurely stroll after meals, climb high during the day to enjoy distant views, drink tea, play cards, and at night exercise while also enjoying the night view. Why not indulge in such pleasures! This century-old park is not only a great place for local people to relax and entertain, but its own story is also fascinating. As everyone knows, Goose Neck Park was originally the private garden of Li Yaoting, the richest man in the southwest, called Li Garden. It was a gift from his two sons because of his special affection for Suzhou gardens. Therefore, he replicated a garden with a strong Jiangnan style in the mountain city, which became the largest private garden in the southwest at that time. Thus, Goose Neck Park carries a profound historical and cultural heritage of Chongqing. The park's attractions are unique, including the Stone Rope Bridge, Yi Hui Garden, Kan Sheng Tower, Hiroshima Garden, Sunset Pavilion, Tong Xuan, and the Lotus Pond Corridor, among others. The most eye-catching is the Fei Ge Mansion, where Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling once stayed, hence it is also known as the 'Mei Ling Palace'. Today, this Mei Ling Palace has become a coffee shop called 'Fei Ge Coffee'. Goose Neck Park is located at the highest point of the Chongqing peninsula, known for its beautiful scenery, lush vegetation, bizarre rocks, and majestic pavilions. It has been known since ancient times as 'the number one scenery of the mountain city'. Climbing up the Kan Sheng Tower, one can see the magical confluence of the two rivers, but at noon, the sun is scorching, so we gave up the plan to climb and enjoy the view. People say that Chongqing is a city of mountains, and the mountains are the city. The same is true for Goose Neck Park; the park is the mountain, and the mountain is the park. In recent years, with the nearby Goose Neck Factory No. 2 Cultural and Creative Park becoming very popular, fewer tourists have come to Goose Neck Park, making it a quiet place in the city. It's a lovely spot for locals to wander and visit when they have free time.
