Dali | Cang Mountain is more than a mountain, Erhai Lake is more than a lake

| Cang Mountain is more than a mountain, Erhai Lake is more than a lake. Erhai Lake is truly breathtaking! As a landmark scenic spot in Yunnan, the area around Erhai Lake is filled with countless must-visit attractions. Here’s a curated list of must-see spots around Erhai Lake—this guide has everything you need! 🚩 Highlights of the Itinerary 1. Shuanglang Ancient Town is absolutely delightful to explore! With its strong Bai ethnic culture, you can enjoy Bai folk songs and dances by the ancient stage in the evening—the atmosphere is magical. Don’t miss the famous Xi Yuan Old Brand for authentic local dishes, located at Building 12, Zone C in Shuanglang Town Scenic Area. 2. The sunset at Little Putuo Temple is breathtaking! Take a ferry to the island in the evening to watch the sunset paint the entire Erhai Lake. The best photo spot is the viewing platform on the left side of the temple. 3. Caicun Pier is perfect for cycling—rent a bike and ride along the Erhai Lake Ecological Corridor, soaking in the stunning views of the lake and mountains. Mornings are ideal here, as you can witness local villagers fishing and drying nets. 🎯 Must-Visit Attractions ✔️ Erhai Park Best visited in the morning, where you can take a boat tour around the lake. The park also features an ethnic village to experience Bai culture—plan for 2-3 hours here. ✔️ Xizhou Ancient Town A historic and cultural town, famous as the birthplace of the Three-Course Tea. Be sure to dine at Courtyard Restaurant (No. 208, Upper Renmin Road) for authentic Bai cuisine—their sour and spicy fish is a must-try! ✔️ Butterfly Spring From April to May, thousands of butterflies gather here, creating a spectacular sight. The Lover’s Bridge in the scenic area is a perfect photo spot. ✔️ Chongsheng Temple Three Pagodas A landmark of Dali, these three pagodas stand in harmony with Cang Mountain and Erhai Lake. The viewing platform in front of the pagodas offers the best photo opportunities. 🏨 Practical Tips 1. Transportation around Erhai Lake: Renting an electric bike or car is recommended, costing around 150–300 RMB per day. The Erhai Lake shuttle bus is also convenient. 2. Food recommendations: Xizhou baba (flaky pastry), Dali rushan (milk fan), Bai Three-Course Tea, and Yongping braised chicken are must-try local specialties! 3. Don’t forget sun protection—the high-altitude UV rays are intense.

Cangshan Mountain

Dali China, a magical place. #travel Day 1: Arrival from the Dali airport, get to the hotel. it's about 50mins journey, as we arrived at rush hour. Had a walk in Dali Old town. Day 2: Cable car to go to Cangshan. then took a taxi to ShuangLang old town, then to Xingsheng Bridge. Day 3: Went to XiZhou old Town. [Must-Visit Attractions] 1.Dali Old Town, the night view is beautiful, you see lots of people. there are millions of shops you can go in and check out local delicacies or buying little gifts for friends and family. 2. Cangshan Mountain, there are several roots to go up. we tried XiMaTan cable car, there are two stages to go up. the view is magnificent. you can take Erhai to full view. once you change to the 2nd stage, you are almost all in the cloud, it's magical. once you are at the end of the cable car journey, you can still walk to XiMaTan (there are stairs leading to it, suggest to have oxygen bottles with you, in case you are feeling not too well, as it's almost 4000meters above sea level. When coming down, we decided to walk to gantong Cable car, which is about 2 hours walk down. you don't need to buy tickets again for Gantong cable car, as this is covered in your ticket. 3. ShuangLang Old Town. LongKan MaTou & Eco corridor. Xingsheng Bridge. Make sure you are covered or make sure to put sun cream on, you can get tanned really easily since Dali is in a high altitude. The view in eco-corridor was beautiful, cars or motorcycles are not allowed to get in, there are bicycles or low speed scooters are available for renting. On one side, there are lots of Bai ethnic buildings, hotels, all nicely decorated with plants, flowers. on the other side, it's ErHai, the beautiful lake. there are coffee shops nearby, lots of photogenic shops. ShuangLang is another highlight, really nice views and food available in your fingers tips. rose cake is a local delicacies, you can find lots of shops are selling it. Restaurants, must try YunHeYi restaurant, it's on a hill, the views are just amazing.
